I'll be grabbing the LE of this game - sounds and looks fantastic.
Wonder if it has any replayability though. |
Re: Alan Wake
Oh, and in other bad news - the screen tearing is back in full force, even with the workaround that I thought was working :(
|
Re: Alan Wake
On the bright side (natch), at least you can see the tears in full HD again.

In order to fully 'get' the whole story (within the story) you need to play on Nightmare difficultly, as some manuscript pages are only in that difficulty. I imagine that gameplay style will change a bit too - you might need to rely on environmental kills or group kills rather than merely firing your gun until it's dead.
|
Re: Alan Wake
Isn't the game supposed to scale the difficulty based on how you're doing? If so, what's the point if there's also a difficulty setting?

Is Nightmare super-hard difficulty? I hate having the struggle for hours to pass one level.

Re: Alan Wake
Goodness, this was a good game. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what happened...but more importantly why I felt a TINY bit underwhelmed at the end.
My 'numerical ranking' I'd give it a $56.99 out of a possible $59.99 |
Re: Alan Wake
Does it seem like the story isn't finished and they're relying on future DLC Episodes to finish the narrative? I mean, does it stand on it's own? We already know the first DLC will be "free" for original purchasers...

Re: Alan Wake
What's the play time and replayability? I'm trying to figure out if this game is a day-one purchase or if limited replayibility and linear storytelling will lead to a flood of used copies hitting ebay in a couple of months like a certain other game I'm thinking of.

Re: Alan Wake
Anyone know what's going on with Bright Falls? The only info on release dates I could find is a press release on the official xbox site, saying the first two would be 4/25 and one would follow each week. Did I miss something about the next one being delayed?

edit: Yup. |
Re: Alan Wake
Sweet. I'd just been checking on the marketplace, thinking they'd put them up everywhere at once.

Should I get the Limited Edition? Is the game that special? (I like LEs for special games.)
The game is quite good. I was let down however by the final "boss battle". It was not a challenge at all. |

L&O...nice review on ur blog and got me interested in this game when i never had any at all. i am all for atmosphere and a dark and foreboding horror game.
any news of the screen tearing correction in the future? did it still happen throughout the game to completion? |

Re: Alan Wake
no online mp...so with Red Dead coming out there is no reason to spend full price on this...as it will be 39.99 new by the time I finish up with Red Dead...but I look forward to it..

Sounds like you asked your magic 8 ball.
Will there be a demo? A demo for Alan Wake will not be released prior to the game's launch. It is still as yet undecided if there will be a demo post-launch. |
Re: Alan Wake
I just watched the three available Bright Falls videos and now I'm too scared to play this game. Or come out from under my desk.
