Alan Wake
Anyone else looking forward to this game? I don't recall the link right now but I read this is an Xbox exclusive cos the PC version was cancelled.

Re: Alan Wake
Except that, unlike Duke Nukem Forever, Alan Wake is actually getting released.
Though it did seem like it'd never come to pass. Though that does seem to be the case for the PC version.

The game looks like it could blow the socks off everyone. I thought the gameplay footage looked like the game Resident Evil 5 should have been. Lets hope it is not a mess like Alone in the Dark...

Re: Alan Wake
there is a part two to that video..and I really get a "Lost" vibe with this one...the voice acting seems weak and the writing is a bit of a let down..

Re: Alan Wake
I thought there was already a thread for this game. Anyway, I've been following this game for years, I'm a big fan and can't wait to play it. I think I have it "preordered" somewhere online.

I just did a search for "Alan Wake" and didn't find a game specific thread, although it popped up in numerous "Most Anticipated Game" threads dating back to 2007

Re: Alan Wake
I was reading about it, in magazines, front page and everything, since before 2004. The game was almost ready since then.
The game is available for preorder from Amazon. They have the Xbox 360 and PC versions available. Release data May 31 2010. But I'm not sure if that's 100% official.
According to their twitter account (http://twitter.com/remedyalerts) they haven't announced an official date yet. It's just supposed to be released this Spring.

I think you're mis-remembering a bit, it looks like the game wasn't announced until 2005. Even then, I don't think there was any indication that it was "almost ready" at any point until recently unless you meant something else by that.

Re: Alan Wake
I've been hearing about this game for years, but I never once really looked into it. That is a good thing, because I can't possibly be disappointed in this title. I'm intrigued from those videos...

Re: Alan Wake
I remember being annoyed that this was going to be (possibly the first?) game which required Vista and DirectX 10, and I didn't want to switch from XP. Now my computer's running Windows 7 and DX11 and I'd pretty much forgotten about the game.

Of course it's all moot since it seems the PC version will never happen.

Re: Alan Wake
Cautiously optimistic. There's a lot of potential, and I like the idea of the storytelling device they're using, but there's a lot that could go wrong.
