Re: Alan Wake
Well, I definitely will be buying Red Dead Redemption when it comes out and I don't know.....I'm not to big on these types of games (half sandbox games as I like to call them).
I think it looks really cool and even the story (from what I know) seems very interesting......but I'm just not sure I would buy it. I was the same with Arkham Asylum, I played the demo, said I was definitely going to buy it then just lost interest. |

Re: Alan Wake
I got mine from Amazon this morning. I won't really get a chance to play until Thursday though. I chose this over Red Dead Redemption; this looked far more interesting :)

I know - this is very unfortunate for the state of gaming. People would rather have a sequel than an original Stephen King book come to life

It's not that, RDR just has more legs. AW is more of a rental. I usually only read Stephen King novels once, but I still watch Deadwood, Young Guns, and The Magnificent Seven as the fancy strikes me.
|
Re: Alan Wake
I bought both, but only because Amazon dropped the price of Alan Wake by $10 and offered another $10 gift card on top of it.
|
Re: Alan Wake
My copy from Amazon has arrived. However, Red Dead takes priority...as does Mass Effect 2...as does Lost tonight.
So yeah, I'll post my impressions of this in a couple of weeks probably. |
Re: Alan Wake
I bought this today as well, don't know when I'll be able to play it. Sort of a strange "Spring Cluster" of good games these next couple of weeks.

Re: Alan Wake
I picked up my pre-order earlier this morning, but won't start playing it until after dark.
|
Re: Alan Wake
I probably won't get to it until this weekend.

Re: Alan Wake
Waiting for my LE. It would probably be delivered tomorrow. :(

Like Suprmallet, I did order AW today because of the $50 + $10 credit. Still waiting on the credit though. |
Re: Alan Wake
I was going to get this at TRU but they didn't have it. Is it really short?

Re: Alan Wake
I am in love with the limited edition. Box that looks and feels like a hardcover book, a soundtrack that is actually on a CD instead of a download code, a bonus DVD, and a 150+ page book about the storyline.

Yes....I hope the rental market doesn't destroy this Microsoft published title that thus far has featured prominent in game advertising from Microsoft, Verizon, and Energizer. I can tell they need all the help they can get.

Re: Alan Wake
Remedy's a pretty small developer and their last game Max Payne 2 was released way back in 2003. Something had to fund the 7 years working on Alan Wake  :)

Re: Alan Wake
According to the unscientific poll that is my friends list, RDR must have outsold this game 20:1. No one was playing this last night.
*I* would have played this last night, but Best Buy chose not to pull my pre-order off the shelf and instead sold it and every other copy to people who just walked in off the goddamn street. I have to wonder if having the reviews hit 2-3 weeks before street date was a mistake. People were stoked when the reviews came out, then they had to wait 3 more weeks... |
Re: Alan Wake
I bought both and will play both but Alan Wake is a game that you need to block out a chunk of time and immerse yourself. RDR is a game i can pop in and screw around for 15 minutes and be done. I will probably play RDR more often because of that but Alan Wake will definitely be played and enjoyed... just like the Mass Effect games.

With the 3 week lead in they gave the full retail release version with press folks they obviously could've planned for an earlier release. I gotta think that would've been better for them had it come out any of the previous two weeks. |
Re: Alan Wake
They must have been afraid of Iron Man 2, for some silly ass reason. I even saw more people playing Split/Second than Alan Wake yesterday.
|
Re: Alan Wake
Here I thought Corvin was the only one playing Split/Second :)
But yeah, when I logged in I was the only one playing Wake. I hope it's successful, I've enjoyed what Remedy has done. |

Re: Alan Wake
Picked this up last night, but probably won't be playing it for a while. I can already tell that RDR is going to be too hard for me to put down. At least I have another great game to look forward to playing after I finish RDR.
I'd say it was a pretty big mistake by Remedy releasing this the same day as RDR. Should have released this 3 weeks ago when reviews started coming out. |
