Crazy Huge PSN Store Update Today!
It's a doozey today. The highlights are demos for Dead Space 2, LBP 2 and Mass Effect 2, Risk Factions, Echochrome 2, some dart game <strike>that inexplicably doesn't have Move support</strike> and the aforementioned Sega sale, with VC 2 for $16 being the best deal. Here's the full list: Spoiler:

That dart game is supposed to have Move support. Are you sure it doesn't?
Just checked the Playstation Blog. Top Darts definitely has Move support. |

It shouldn't matter - VC2 is awesome on the PSP.

What is with the Neo Geo games? Why aren't they all playable on the PSP, and why is there a price discrepancy? I can't believe you have to buy them twice if you want to play them on both.

What's odd is that Metal Gear Peacewalker doesn't seem to be in the PSN store anymore... I can find the demo but not the full game.
Bit on VC2, even though I have the UMD, as it's unplayable in my Go anyway. I would get FM3, but I ran out of room... |

And with that, I'm finally going to get Big Surf Island and Sonic 4: Ep. 1.
Let me know what you think about Sonic 4 Ep 1. I'm on the fence (and waiting to see if it's cheaper on 12/30 on XBLA -- it probably will be). |

Some nice bonuses for PSN+ over the last few weeks. First all five episodes of Sam & Max, now this:
PlayStation Plus subscribers have been getting access to a number of cool bonuses as of late, but a new MAG promotion may be one of the more novel perks yet. Following tomorrow's PSN update, a "Full Game Trial" of MAG will be available to download in the Plus section of the PlayStation Store. However, unlike most Plus content, you'll have access to this content for as long as your membership is active. Of course, there's a catch: This is still only a game trial. Although you'll be able to play with and against actual owners of the game online for as long as you want, the full-game trial has an artificial level cap. You'll only be able to advance your MAG character up to level 8, enough to unlock access to the game's signature 256-player mode. Any experience you earn after level 8 will go unrewarded until you purchase the full digital license for $30. The trial's level cap means you won't be able to become a squad leader or change your faction either, but if you want to keep playing for free, simply put an artificial cap on your gameplay goals, too: Become the greatest level-8 soldier of all time. |

I was talking to my cousins over Xmas and they told me they got Gran Turismo and Black Ops and are playing the games in 3D. WTF? They have a 3D tv but when did PS3 go 3D and how the hell does that look?

Aren't all PS3s? I've never heard that there was any difference in anything function-wise except bit streaming.

Yeah, all PS3s are. One of the updates added 3D support.

So I received Heavy Rain for Christmas because it had been on my wish list since it was released. I finally got a couple hours free to settle in and play it tonight. I start up the game and get prompted for an update of 1145 MB. Estimated time remaining? 128 minutes.
Now I remember why my PS3 is almost exclusively a BluRay player these days. I also got God of War III and Uncharted 2, but I'm hoping the updates for those aren't quite as lengthy. Just in case, I'll go ahead and pop them in well ahead of the time I set aside to actually play them. |
Re: The Official PS3 thread - Software bugs? We don't need no software bugs
I think you can play Heavy Rain without the update.

so i've had the ps3 for more than a week. got uncharted. my impressions are that it's a great blu-ray player. uncharted is pretty fun, if not linear. but being an xbox360 owner since near the beginning, the one thing that i just can't stand is the ps3 controller. it just doesn't feel as good as the xbox360 controller. the left analog stick is too low, which makes gripping it awkward. this was always one of my main complaints with the older playstation systems. oh well. i'll probably play a few games on it here and there, but nothing major.

They have some third party ps3 controllers modeled after the 360 controller. It's not exact, but pretty damn close.
