The DS3 controller is really bad, imho. That was my biggest concern with the PS4, but apparently it has been fixed substantially.

It does get a lot easier to use, but I still greatly prefer the 360 controller for anything where guns are involved (unless there's a lock on feature like in GTA V, then I'm indifferent) It isn't bad for most other things and the d-pad is superior.

The DS3 is one of the reasons I buy multiplatform games on 360. I've heard some of the 3rd party controllers are OK at best, but nothing comes close to the comfort of the 360 controller. This is one controller that I thought about getting, though it didn't get the best reviews

I prefer the 360 controller overall and usually buy the 360 versions of multi-console games, but honestly once I'm playing a game I like it really makes little to no difference to me. I recently completed both Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite on the PS3 and never once thought "I wish I were playing this on a different controller", so it's not much of an issue for me really. But I do have smallish hands.

And you can transfer Vita games you've downloaded to your PS3 wirelessly now.

I actually don't notice that much either, although despite owning a PS2 and PS3, I'm ingrained with ABXY and for some reason I can't get a handle on Triangle, X, Square, and Circle. Even after playing God of War 1/2/3 and RE4 as QTE games, I still mix up the buttons.

Fucking X button placement. Screws me up every time.

This is the controller I use for when I play a game on the PS3 - it is not quite like the 360, but close enough, and much better for me than the Sixaxis or DS3.

Nothing noticeable about deadzones... maybe the analog sticks offer a little less resistance than the 360, but it is minor.

The biggest difference is the weight distribution, and that may be because of the battery pack on the 360, it's a little lighter weight and tends to sit forward-down more than the 360.

I have about $150 in Best Buy GCs. I'm debating on...

1. Getting the GTA5 PS3 bundle, the Sony Pulse Elite headset (since they have a promotion of saving $50 if bundled together), and PS+. No games, would just use the Instant Collection for now plus my buddy has all the exclusives I can borrow.

2. Or, getting the PS4, 1 game, and PS+.

3. Waiting and get a next gen Xmas 2014 and play my Xbox back log now.

I'm sure you all are tired of hearing me talk about getting a PS3 but I have one more question. ;-)

Supposedly according to CAG, Gamestop will be selling all used PS3 systems for $150 starting tomorrow (plus a $20 used game) and there is a SToW coupon for 25% off used systems as well. So, assuming the coupon is allowed on the sale price, the final price would be $112.50 (possibly $97.50 if the PUR 10% bonus also stacks). Don't know if I could get a Super Slim 500g but I'm sure I could get a Slim 160g or 320g.

So, any of you buy a used system from GS before? Any pros/cons? Go for it or buy new?

I've bought a used PS2 Slim from Gamestop before, and it was just fine. If you can get it for that low, I think its worth the risk. Obviously the cons are just the possibility of getting a less then reliable system; I don't recall GS's return policy though, I think its just a month.

Don't buy a fat. The slims are all fine from what I understand. I've never heard of the PS3 Slims having an issue (I think the 360 Slims are in the same boat) if you get a 160GB for under 120 spend 50bucks and get a 500GB Hard Drive to install ASAP.

Given Gooter's 360 back log, I actually can't imagine 160 GB will fill up that quickly to need to buy a hard drive that quickly

PSPlus for a year will fill it up.

I pulled the trigger and joined the Playstation ranks. Bought a used, red PS3 500gb from the Gamestop sale over the weekend. It was in really good shape. Signed up for PS+ for 3 months to start. Also bought Diablo 3, GoW Collection (games 1 and 2), Uncharted 1 and my buddy gave me his codes for the GoW PSP ports from the Saga collection. I'm also borrowing his copy of Last of Us. Plus, I've downloaded some free games from Plus (Kingdoms of Amalur, Xcom, Uncharted 3, Marvel Pinball).

Anyone else having problems with their friends list loading right now? I'm online, but it shows no friends online and doesn't even update their last login status, so no friends on my list on the PS3. When I login to PSN on the PC though, it shows 4 friends online.

EDIT: Working now. But I did find some other people online reporting the same issue.

Hi all, thinking about getting a PS3, but seems the price really hasn't dropped as much as I'd expect with the PS4 around the corner.

I'm looking at this bundle here but I'm not sure how those 12 free games work? Can you only access them while you have the PlaystationPlus subscription? Do you have to have the subscription to play any games? What about something like Final Fantasy XIV?

I can't speak to that specific bundle but the games available via the Instant Game Collection are only accessible/playable if you maintain an active PS Plus subscription. As long as you are a current subscriber, you can download and redownload the games you have previously downloaded or the ones that are currently available.

Yes, the $199 system only comes with 12GB.

The only leaked BF deal so far is at Gamestop. $199 gets you the 250GB PS3 with Batman Arkham Origins and Last of Us.
