Totally forgot that Beyond Two Souls comes out next month. That's going to likely be my PS3s last hurrah.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
Just to follow up on this, I have a brand new PS3 Slim with a 500GB drive. Nothing installed, nothing played, it's only been connected to the internet but not even updated. So it's a 500GB drive, formatted to a functional 465GB. Available space with nothing installed or done yet is 412GB.
So while you are missing an extra 11GB, the new 500GB one is missing 43GB. My assumption is that it's not the size of the OS but maybe a swap file or something like that. Some hidden system reserve.

I'm getting ready to sell 90% of my physical media (movies), so I have to ask this:
1) If I buy and download a movie from the Playstation Store, is there a way to export it to a hard drive so that I can essentially back it up and maybe even play it on another device?
2) And two, I have Playstation Plus. So if I were to buy and download a movie, is there a way that the movie is saved into the "cloud" so that I can retrieve it (if I were to delete it, or my PS3 died and I needed another, or if I get the PS4, etc)?
Thanks.

1. No. But if you buy a movie from Vudu, instead of PSN, you get a licensed Ultraviolet Digital Copy. Which gives you a license for the movie for life across multiple platforms.
2. Yes, once you buy it, you can re-download on other devices that are activated for Videos on your account. I'm not sure what the limit it, but certainly if your ps3 dies, you can de-authorize it, and your new one will be able to download it.

One word: DRM
Right now Amazon may be the most multiformat platform in the USA. You buy a digital movie from them, and you can play it in your PS3, Xbox 360, iPad, Android device, PC, etc. And yeah, it's in the cloud.

I'm a little late to the party with this but could someone recommend a wireless adapter which works with the PS3 (preferably one sold by Amazon)? I'm still using the old 20gig launch model without wifi.

I may be able to buy a used PS3 Slim 250gb off of CL for $100. Comes with DS wireless controller, cables, BLOPS2, Burnout Paradise, Most Wanted. I don't care about those games just want the PS3. I won't be able to test it out prior to handing over the $. Should I stay away or take a chance? Anything to look out for? They state they are the orig owner, non-refurb, not modded, everything works etc but obviously they will tell me whatever I want to hear.

Don't do it, man. Unless you can verify the seller via feedback ratings or something, definitely always test out electronics before you buy.

The games are good games, and it's a pretty great deal.
I've had mixed results with this kind of thing on CL, and my rule of thumb is to spend more time judging the people than the item itself. If they look like normal middle-class folks, you'll probably be fine, but if you get even a whiff of shady, walk away, because it's either broken or stolen or both.

Why not just meet them at their house to check it out prior? If that's not possible, I wouldn't buy anything electronics wise like that without testing it out first.
You might also be able to find a friend or relative that has a A/C power plug in in their vehicle. That way you can at least see if it powers up and ejects discs and whatnot.

$100 is too low. May be stolen. I may believe it even at $150, but $100? that's just too low to be legal.
Just saying, of course.

I've seen plenty of PS3s for $60 on CL, so $100 for that bundle doesn't seem outlandish at all. But then I didn't buy one.

Right-o. Just because it can sell for more doesn't mean it has to. Some sellers either don't know or are motivated to get it gone or both.

Just sold a white ps3 500gb slim sans the 1 year ps+ sub for $235.
$100 for a slim with all those games seems almost too good to be true. I'd try it out and get the original receipt for warranty purposes.

The plot thickens... no contact for over a day with the seller after i asked for pictures. I then noticed he/she relisted the item on CL not once but twice and each listing had a different price, $110 and $125. Smells funny so will stay away.

Probably a smart choice. Why not look for an open box one on Amazon Warehouse or something? And you know with Black Friday 2 months away, there are going to be some nice deals out there.

I just got hit up for a new PSN update.
4.50, which adds the ability to hide games on your trophy list. This feature was previously added to the Vita.
Also, Playstation Network has been renamed PSN, and will now be displayed as such.

4.50 also adds the ability to download new Firmwares automatically for non-PS Plus members.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
Went to my buddy's house to play his PS3. I don't mind the interface/GUI and the way you find your games, trophies, friends, etc. However, I could not get used to the DS3 controller. Granted, it was my first time using it and I only played various games for 2 hours. I know overtime I will become more familar with it same as I did for the XB controller but it just seems so foreign to me when compared to the XB one.
Does it get easier? For those of you with both systems, do you find that you can easily adjust between the two?
Also, why do games where you need to shoot seem to stay away from the trigger buttons? I played BF3 as I wanted to try a FPS game and I hated that the aim and shoot buttons were on L1 and R1 and not the triggers. That seemed really odd to me. I think it was the same for Uncharted, shoot was R1.
Still sitting on the PS3 fence but this controller thing kind of threw a wrench into it.
