I don't know if there are too many people trying to download it, but my download keeps stopping at 23% with an error code of 80710723.. At this point, I dont even care about playing online, I just want to be able to use Netflix on my damn PS3!

Crap, I'm not even sure if I remember my password - it was automatic on my old PS3.

I'm not interested in the Move bundle, but if I was, Best Buy has new ones of those on sale for $349 right now.

Update worked for me but the network is still under "maintenance." Maybe tomorrow night...?

Play On – PSN Restoration Begins Now

+ Posted by Patrick Seybold // Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media

Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.

Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated and change your password, both of which are required to get online.

Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.

I'm wondering if they'll do like what most web sites would do and send you a password reminder via e-mail?

No. It retains your old saved password and the first time you try to log in with it PSN says something to the extent of "password doesn't match, please set a new password."

You then enter your new password twice and are all set to go.

Even though SC isn't highlighted on the map, I was able to log on and change my password an' stuff. No store, not surprisingly, but everything else seems fully functional. Didn't actually try playing a game, though.

I didn't have to enter my old password since that was already saved on my PS3. I was just prompted to add a new one.

So besides this PSN bullshit, my PS3 dies and even if I BUY a new PS3, I can't transfer over any of the content of my old hard drive over over to the new system. I'm not asking for a handout here - I BUY two of their fucking systems, and I'm the one getting screwed? Fuck you Sony!

I went through the same thing when my first PS3 did the whole yellow light thing. It was moderately painless to get all the stuff I downloaded back, and my trophies and stuff remained in place, but I lost all my saves. I didn't have anything in progress (that I was going to go back to, anyway), so it wasn't that big a deal, but I wasn't happy about it. (Losing all my Rock Band stars was a drag, and I'd just gotten all the weapons/armor and maxed everything out in the last Ratchet and Clank game...those I wanted.) I guess I haven't learned my lesson since I haven't been backing up my saves on my new PS3 either.

Slop, I hope you didn't earn any tough trophies on your old system after the PSN went offline last month.

Same here. Waiting to see if we get a new improved Store once it's up.
