Now it just tells me that the credit card info can't be updated.

Sweet glad to see Episodes from Liberty City coming to PS3. I still need to finish up GTAIV but there are so many little things missing that even as great as it is, I don't find myself wandering around for hours just playing around and exploring as I did in GTA3 and Vice City. From what I've read a lot of my beefs with GTA4 were addressed in this (plus better radio stations!)

And the choppers do a lot more damage too. So much nicer when randomly rampaging.

It seems it was a zip code issue that did me in. My credit card company used the standard 5 digits plus an additional 4. However nowhere in my statements did they make mention of the other 4.

They fixed it but PSN requires I wait 24 hours. I ended up getting a PSN card. I wasn't looking forward to using my credit card anyway.

Amazingly, I just saw on ebay that someone is selling the Amazon-exclusive MAG themed HOME personal space code for $60!!! I got one in the email and thought I might check it out, but not now. If I can get anything remotely close to that code, I'm totally set! Guess there's a sucker born every minute.

I don't understand it either. I sold an Amazon-exclusive Infamous HOME costume for around $40 a while back. Makes me wonder why these people don't just preorder the game and save some $$. Oh well, I'm not complaining :)

Hey, that's me!

Someone already sold one for $60. I don't know why but these Home costumes and stuff sell for tons. Like Kevad, I sold my infamous home costume for $45. I don't know why people don't pre-order themselves, but there's a lot of stuff on ebay that I don't understand.

I hardly want to use Home for free much less dropping any money on that crap. If there is a buyer though why not sell for that much.

So I guess Home is good for something after all.

So I have an original 60GB PS3. I have done every update without a problem. I am concerned about the 3.15 update though. I hear it is bricking alot of the backward compatible models. Has anyone safely done it yet?

I know it sounds kind of conspiracy theorist, but is it possible Sony is sending out an update that will purposely brick the old model, so we are forced to buy the slim(or pay to repair the phat) and use the PSN store to buy old games? Also, I wonder if maybe the newest fw update isnt designed for the older PS3s and that could be the cause of the problem.

I have that model and did the 3.15 update with no issues.

does HOME works worldwide? I mean, it's available in all countries?

If that's the case I can see people from other countries buying those codes in ebay. I mean, it's still dumb but it explains a little bit more why they are doing this.

+1

No issues whatsoever on my BC 60GB model.

It does. You still have to use a US PSN account to access US Home items, but people do it.

Every model plays PS1 games, including the slim, and there are no PS2 games in the PSN store. So that theory doesn't make any sense.

It's not the firmware. I could tell my 60GB was going months ago when the fan noise started getting louder...and I posted as much on here.

Sony was pretty decent to replace it with a slim for $150. Just make sure you back up your stuff. I went a few months since my last backup before mine died.

I think my recommendation, if you own a 60GB, would be to sell it while it's still worth something and get a slim.

I don't think it is a conspiracy. The console gets very hot and over time it causes the YLOD. I personally don't want to part with my 60GB though. I have had it for over 3 years now and I will just run it until it breaks and pay the $180. I don't like the slim personally. My friend has one and it gets just as hot as the 60GB and his even has weird popping sounds when the plastic cools down after it has run for awhile. I want my backwards compatibility and will just pay the cost to fix mine when it breaks.

I just realized I still have Amazon pre-order codes from R&C and Uncharted 2.

I don't see in the email that these codes have an expiration date. Does anyone know if they do?

At this point, I just want to put them up on ebay, but I want to make sure they'll be usable.

Sorry to tell you, but those two codes are pretty worthless. The Uncharted 2 one is completely useless -- it downloads a nearly-2 GB video file that shows you how to find the first 10 treasures (out of 100) in the first two levels of the game. Gee thanks! -rolleyes-
The R&C one is a little more useful, but it just gives you a headstart in getting that bolt magnet early, allowing you to get more bolts earlier in the game. Nobody's going to buy that on ebay.

People are willing to spend $60 on Home costumes on ebay.

I'll take my chances. ;)

There was a pre-order code for Uncharted 2. Gotta check my email.

At least for those games, they were the rarer of the codes available on ebay. I sold my uncharted one for $13.50 and my R&C one for $20. I don't know if you'll get those prices now, but it doesn't hurt and you could always do buy-it-now/best offer. Or you could list them for free auction-style, but I don't think an auction's going to net you very much for these.
