Wrong thread?

Well... this will free up a lot of flash drives... also makes me glad I held off on getting the newer Xbox 360 with larger hard drive 500GB?

I assume he means like I do have an Xbox 360 FAT and that the idea of External drives works on both slims as well as the old fattie. Though if the idea of external drives only works on slims, I would heavily consider buying one in a flash, actually over buying an Xbox One. While I know I will be getting an Xbox One in the future because of Rock Band and Pinball FX, I'm still not sure if I want to do it this year.

But what the hell is a "Model 2"?

I Googled it, and even Google was like WTF?

Nope. Xbox TV would be a 360 with no disc drive, the continued added media features and now supporting external HDDs suggests it may come to fruition which would be cool.

There are Xbox 360s with HDMI in?

No, I meant that as a "concept" I hope they keep if they pursue such a device.

The model that came after the launch 360. Hence the name "model 2"

I would guess he is referring to the revisions.

Has anyone seen any compatibility charts for this feature yet? I know it's in beta, but I'm in the beta and want to get the ball rolling on this.

I would buy an xbox 360 disk-less device like the vita tv in the $99-$150 range the day it was released if it supported external hard drives.

I threw a 2TB portable Toshiba at it last night, seems to work like a champ.

Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines

It would be nice if the update would let us throw any 2.5 HD up to 2TB in the enclosure and not have to put up with USB2 speeds, but I assume that doesn't work? Obviously it wouldn't be officially supported, as they're not going to support people taking apart the enclosure, but I doubt I assume there is no chance of it unofficially working either?

Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines

So far the USB2 speeds haven't been a factor. Transferring files over from internal to the external doesn't take long at all, and playing games off that external have been on par with playing games off the internal.

This.

The 360 hardware is pretty much a SOC at this point. Drop the mechanical components and throw in similar functionality like the One (ahem, dual-band WiFi, ahem) and sell it at $99. Hell, I'd buy two.

It has some frustrating sections but I beat the game... and I suck at games. You can do it!

Now with the option to add 2tb external drives does anyone know if purchasing a 4gb console is now doable with just the external drives alone? I still have a first gen 20gb, but want to upgrade to an hdmi model if I just need to purchase a 4gb model.

What do you mean by doable? Yes you can purchase them, and yes it will work.

Yup. That would be absolutely fine.

Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines

Thanks. If all someone needs now is to get a 4gb console and add an external I have a feeling the 4gb console is going to be phased out. One can get a 4gb with a 1tb for an extra 60 bucks removing the need to purchase the 500gb ms branded hard drive packages .
