Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
so i can now attach my western digital 1.5 tb to my 360 and it work?? I have a 2005 xbox 360, will it still work?
Also, can any game be moved? I am currently using a 32 USB flash drive and some games only work on the hard drive -- Destiny and Titanfall for instance also, can i use the external drive i have been using with my computer? Didn't know if there would be formatting issues? I will still need to use it with my laptop as well from time to time |

Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
I barely use my Xbox 360 these days - mostly for HBO Go - but I got an email a while back saying in the transition from MS points to US $ I had $13.50 in my account and it expires on 6/1. I don't want that to go to waste, so I went to buy some stuff tonight, but wasn't given the option to use my promotional balance. Checking my account, it says this:
http://i.imgur.com/GFVw2zc.jpg How can I have $0 and $13.50 simultaneously? Figuring that maybe it would still somehow take those funds first, I bought a Rock Band song for $1. Nope. My credit card was charged. So I chatted with general Microsoft help, who referred me to Xbox help. The person I talked to looked into it and said this: "Upon checking your account, you still have the balance. This is a migration process, your Microsoft points will be converted to Local Currency that you can still use to purchase from the store." Shouldn't that have fully migrated long ago? I'm not terribly optimistic that those funds will still be there after tomorrow (Er, today.) or accessible even if they are. Again, it's not a terrible loss since I don't really do much gaming anymore. I was just going to buy a couple of RB songs, maybe the State of Decay DLC. I guess I could've gotten a movie instead. The person I chatted with said to contact them if it does expire. (I made sure to get a transcript of our session, as well as my ticket number.) Has anyone else run into this issue with the transition? |
Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
You can't buy anything online using points. You have to purchase it from the console.

The 13.50 is a promotional credit from the points to cash transition that expires today. |

If I had more thumbs, I would do so. I've wanted to play these two FOREVER. I've almost bought the first about ten times by now (and just never did). So very good month indeed. |
Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Well it only took them a little more than a year to offer Last Light since Sony did on PS3, so I guess better late than never? It would have been nice to offer both games for XB1 instead.
EDIT: I just saw that Ground Zeros is going to be free on XB1, so at least that is only a month behind on that one. Maybe they are getting a little better. |

Don't care about playing Last Light at all, but I'll still download it anyway just to have it in my purchase history. So yeah, not so excited about August's games. Maybe September's will be better. |

Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Pretty nifty updates. I know it's all features needed for Backwards Compatibility to work better with the XBox One, but neat for anyone still on last gen too.

Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
A neater change would be an option on the 360 to "Move all 'Saved Game' files to Cloud Storage" instead of doing them one-by-one.

Or, you know, an easier way to view your download history without scrolling through an hour trying to find a game that has since been de-listed :)
But I don't see them making those kinds of changes this late in the system's life. It would probably require a serious UI overhaul. |

Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
I think my 360 is dead. I have it hooked through the XO and this weekend I could turn the power on and have the center light come on, but I couldn't get any controller to connect and I couldn't get an image on the screen (which only happens when the HDMI output engages).

Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Did you try it on an HDMI port on your TV? I bet the Xbox dash is messing with it.
|
Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
No I didn't. Might try that when I get home (though that would only be a temporary fix - would look really bad with my current Man cave set-up)

Supreme Court will hear Xbox 360 disc-scratching case
A lawsuit brought nine years ago over game discs scratched by the Xbox 360 will reach the Supreme Court. The justices decided Friday to hear an appeal from Microsoft over whether it should face a class action lawsuit in this matter. The plaintiffs allege a design defect in the Xbox 360 console led to the damage to their discs. The case has gone through several rounds of appeals without reaching trial. Microsoft argues that the case shouldn't be given class action status because individual claims have been dismissed already. A federal judge ruled in 2012 that there were not enough complaints to merit a class action suit; that decision was overturned by a federal appeals court last year. The plaintiffs argue that the Xbox 360's optical disc drive is so sensitive that it spins discs out of control and into other parts of the console, scratching the discs and making them unplayable. Testimony taken in the case alleges that Microsoft was aware of the potential for the console to scratch and damage discs if the console was repositioned by users. A program manager said Microsoft considered and rejected three solutions, among them slowing the drive's speed and adding parts that would have added 50 cents to the manufacturing cost of each console. The case alleged Microsoft received 55,000 complaints about the disc scratching by 2008. The Xbox 360 went on sale in November 2005 and to date has sold more than 84 million units. Microsoft says disc-scratching, if it occurs, is due to consumers' misuse of the console and not a design flaw. http://www.polygon.com/2016/1/16/107...t-class-action |

Xbox 360's ESPN app shutting down.
ESPN and Microsoft are retiring the Xbox 360's ESPN app on March 23, according to a notice posted in the app. Microsoft confirmed the ESPN app's shutdown to Polygon in a statement that is essentially identical to the message in the app, which was first reported by Deadspin. The app debuted in November 2010, offering content such as live sporting events and personalized scores and highlights. Two years later, Microsoft and ESPN added live programming from all ESPN networks, including shows such as SportsCenter. The shutdown applies only to the Xbox 360; the Xbox One's ESPN app will continue to operate, and Microsoft noted as much in its statement, directing users to "check out ESPN on Xbox One for everything you love about ESPN on Xbox 360." Asked for additional details on the closure of the Xbox 360 app, an ESPN spokesperson declined further comment. But an ESPN source indicated to Polygon that usage of the ESPN app on Xbox 360 has been dropping since the launch of the Xbox One in November 2013. The Xbox 360 itself is well over 11 years old, having debuted in November 2005. ESPN remains accessible on external devices including computers, tablets and streaming set-top boxes through the WatchESPN app. However, the Xbox One is now the only video game console that offers an ESPN app. http://www.polygon.com/2016/3/18/112...n-app-shutdown |
Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Can they reclassify the X1 ESPN App as an "App" and not a "Game"? That's annoying.

Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
I hope this doesn't happen with the Xbox app. My 4-year-old watching cartoons is the main use for my 360 at this point.
