re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Small, yet annoying dilemma...
I have a 360 (mine) in the family room. There are a few XBLA games (mostly kinect related) that my kids like to play. I got them their own 360 for Christmas and put it in the living room. Since that time, I have moved the Kinect setup on to their 360.
It now seems that my only option for them to play the XBLA games that I have d/l on my 360 is to transfer my profile to their machine. And then transfer it back to mine when I want to play a different game. (I knew this restriction, but only realized it yesterday when I went to d/l the addon for Kinect Sports 2. I transferred my profile onto their machine, but the new content wasn't available yet, so I went on to xbox.com and purchased it, not realizing it would attach it to my 360.)
What options do I have in tranferring these XBLA purchases to the kids 360? If I do the transfer through MS, it will tranfer everything correct? This isn't ideal, but I always play with my profile connected to Live, so it would be a matter of d/l the content to their 360.
Another option, I suppose, would be to swap hard drives (technically, swap consoles and keep my hard drive in the family room)
Any suggestions? I know there are several of you that have multiple consoles, what works best in your situation?

Easiest method is to swap out the console itself. They can play all the games/DLC you bought offline on the old console. When you play that content on your (now swapped / new) console you will have to be logged in with your account.
Kinda crummy to steal the new console from the kiddos, but this is probably the least involved method there is.

Remember to swap out the HDDs. And I bought the 4gb unit because I liked the matte finish better. Remember anything you d/l can be played on the original console downloaded to and original profile downloaded from. So make sure and log on to the kids console when you d/l a game and they can play it on that console and you on your profile anywhere.

I think you can also download your gamertag to the console that the content was not originally purchased on. They can play with it as long as that tag is signed in and they are connected to the internet. I am not 100% sure though.

I'm giving a big
to Dr Pepper for their latest promotion : They're giving away "An Xbox 360 A Day!".
Yup, that's right, they're giving away "Prizes: 107 Grand Prizes: 4GB Xbox Console ARV $199.00. Odds 1:2,300,000". No games with it. No other prizes. That's one of the stingiest give-aways I've ever seen from a major corporation. Why even bother at that point?

No. Back when the 360 was new and cost, what, $400, Mountain Dew gave away one every six or ten minutes (I forget which) for months and each one came with a hard drive and a game of the winner's choice. Now that they're dirt cheap (and old), to give away such a small number (and the cheapest, most basic model to boot) seems really stingey. Sure it's better than poke in the eye with a sharp stick, but you're a huge, multi-national corporation, you don't tend to plaster all your soda bottles with promotional material about a giveaway if you're only planning on giving away a total prize pool of $21,400 over three months. The bottle advertising design and the code distribution surely cost way more than that.

I get what you're saying, Decker. But free is free and they don't have to do have those giveaways so it's hard to complain. Also, not all of us get free sodas from our employer to pour down the drain just for the cap

Check your PM TLwizard. MWB has generously donated the 160 points to you since he was the first to reply.

I have been unhappy with the stream quality of HBO Go on my xbox. I have zero problems with Hulu or Netflix on my xbox...and my Roku streams HBO Go just fine, but the last few days the picture quality have been bad on my HBO Go xbox app....anyone else experiencing this?

It's HD quality for me. I just watched some Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel excerpts 2 days ago and they played fine.

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
So now that HBO Go is available in the Xbox 360 I may be sharing it with my wife.
She's currently watching Sex and The City in her iPad, and she's excited that she's going to be able to watch it in the TV. So basically what's my best option since I only have one gold account. I have two Xboxes, of course.
1. Not really an option, share my account and split times, me playing, she watching her show.
2. Transfer/move my account to a family account and create an account for her. I have gold covered for 3 years, so I'm not sure how that would work.
3. Create a gold account for her, since I don't know how often we will be using the Xbox 360 for different things. We plan on watching The Wire together after she's done with SatC.

It definitely wasn't ready for prime time when Comcast released it. One of the big reasons I'm so happy they finally allowed access to HBO GO.

Finally?? The app's been out for what, two weeks? I think they caved on their corporate policy in near-record time.
