I don't care for any of them. Why are these things still so expensive?

This almost makes up for them not selling that sweet-ass gold C-3PO controller separately.

I like the silver/chrome one the best. And I like that they're not including the Play & Charge Kit with it so they can bump up the price another ten or fifteen bucks.

That's only $5 more than what their standard white and black controllers are listed for, MSRP-wise.

I would expect these to sell for around $45 when they show up on Amazon.

The red one will be mine, I put-off buying the first red one (and the GoW3 one) and I will not do that this time around. My son will probably claim it since he is a red freak.

Oh and more 720 rumors

http://www.vg247.com/2012/04/02/xbox...tcon-required/

VG247 has learned that Microsoft has now detailed Xbox 720 to certain partners and has internally confirmed the machine for a Christmas 2013 release.

The next generation Xbox will have a Blu-ray drive, contrary to a recent report.

Multiple sources have confirmed this morning that the machine will have two GPUs. One said: “It’s like two PCs taped together.”

We’re waiting for final confirmation of specs, but the graphics cards are thought to be equivalent to AMD’s 7000 series GPUs, but “not CrossFire or SLI”. The GPUs aren’t structured as they are in a normal dual PC set-up, in which the two chips take it in turns to draw lines of the same object: Xbox 720′s graphics units will be able to work independently, drawing separate items simultaneously.

It was reported last week that PlayStation 4, internally codenamed Orbis, will also be powered by AMD hardware.

There will be “four or six” cores to the Xbox 720 CPU, one of which will be reserved for Kinect and one for the OS.

Xbox 720 will require an always-on internet connection as an anti-piracy measure.

We’ve also been told that the next generation of Kinect will be built into the device as standard.

The details have emerged in the wake of a hastily removed tweet from Sean Tracy, a technical designer for Crytek, that said he was attending the “Durango summit” in London at the end of February. Durango is though to be the codename for the console.

Microsoft is not expected to announce anything pertaining to its next machine until next year.

Many developers have been posting job openings for “next-gen” and “future-gen” systems for months.
The bold part must be the technical jargon that the 720 is using.

I bet that's their slogan "The Xbox 720, it's like two pc's taped together"

Always on internet connection required? Hrm, mine is typically always on but I am already pissy enough when the internet is out. If I can't play single player games offline either... Not a big fan if that is the case.

Is anyone picking up the Star Wars console this week? The Kinect Star Wars game looks bad but the console looks cool.

That's gonna be a dealbreaker for some people. My brother lives in the mountains and he can't get anything but dialup. I'm sure he's not the only gamer without an always-on internet connection.

It's all rumors, but if they prove to be true then it almost feels like both microsoft and sony are purposely trying to sabotage their systems and make them fail.

Not to mention, my cable internet goes in and out on occasion (and the power stays on just fine), so I guess I would be screwed. But I'm with glassdragon, if even half this crap proves to be true, they are seriously trying to fail their own systems. On one hand, I'll be able to finally make a dent in my backlog if I'm not buying a new system but on the other hand, it will be a sorry state of affairs for the gaming industry.

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines

Is console piracy that big a deal, that prevalent? I can see used games as more of a concern, and while I'm certainly against piracy, is console piracy that widespread other than by the professional Chinese or Russian pirate rings? Is this always-on a solution in search of a problem, or are they hoping/planning to somehow target used games?

Count me in, all these rumors I'm hearing would take the industry in a very wrong, anti-consumer direction. It will eventually bounce back, all the kids who are growing up downloading games on their ipads and touches and Steam and everything and who may only rarely touch a disk or cartridge will support it after the initial backlash, but they may lose some of the older market.

Even though they have no souls and are genetically deformed, I still ended up marrying one (dated 3 more before her), so I might be a red freak too.

I have a co-worker who refuses to hook up her game systems to the Internet for her Paranoia that it will get a virus. I keep trying to tell this will never happen but she doesn't even wanna go to the trouble of researching or hOoking it up. She's probably not the only one that thinks like this.

Did you tell her that using protection is always the best idea?

I didn't see this mentioned and I don't know if this helps anyone, but MS is offering a Gold sign-up offer through the dashboard where if you pay $39.99 for six months, they will send you codes for Halo: Reach, Fable 3, Kinect Sports, Gun Stringer, and Tiny Soldiers.
