Exactly, how in the hell is that even possible? If you buy 6 games from live you get 6 games ON THAT LIVE ACCOUNT. It's not like they can purchase codes and use them on another live account. The only reason I can see anyone doing this for is just to be a malicious asshole

Because profiles aren't tied to a console. The content license is shared between the purchasing profile (regardless of console) and the console that originally downloaded it.

Last I checked, you had to log into the profile to play the game you bought on it every time, and that isn't going to happen when he gets his account back, changes his password and reties it to his 360. The only way to play on that console without logging in on that profile is to do the profile thing on it and that can only be done i want to say once every 6 months

That is incorrect. If you're on the console it was first downloaded on, anyone can play it. It's basically a "family" license.

Wow, that seems like a horrible policy, it should only play on the system that bought it without logging in where the serial of the tied system matches the one tied on live.

If the other console DLed it first, that console can play it without having to be logged into it. The license like said before is 2 parts user and console. The profile with the user license can play on any console. The console with the console license allows any user on that console to play. The first console to download a purchase gets the console license.
Looks like I was beaten to it.

So it should be more restrictive?
You're blaming this slightly-more-open-DRM on the actions of the hackers. They're the ones exploiting it. Would locking it down help? Probably. Would it solve everything? Who knows.
They're handling the hacks quickly, if first-hand experiences in this thread can be believed. No one is out any actual money, just time and convenience.
But if we haven't learned to not trust these VG systems with our financial information yet, that's on us just as much.

Hey, remember when these things died every other weekend? How annoying would that have been if you had to be connected to live to play something on your new xbox before they had the license migration tool or even before you could use it more than once a year
I agree, buying it at a friends house and then both having access is shady as fuck. Almost as shady as "license sharing" with 4 other consoles

I don't share on psn either as I agree that it was pretty shady
And yeah, when the red ring was prevalent then this may have been a good policy to save some time and work, but now that they mostly have that worked out, there is no real reason to keep it that way. That's all I'm saying.

Yeah, I've never quite understood how there's a sticky thread promoting it on CAG. I know the site is called cheap ass for a reason, but there's a difference between deals and blatantly ripping companies off.

Holy shit. My friend who I posted about getting hacked got his account back last night. This morning he woke up to find his account was hacked again with five more games downloaded. To top it off when he called MS they said the previous breach was not a hack and refused to give him a refund. They resubmitted his claim again but I told him to refute with his cc company.

He has done that. Every time. His latest password was crazy intricate. Hmmmm. He just said he got some weird security warning on his phone when he went to xbox.com. A security scan found nothing. This is getting weirder and weirder.

I am about 99% certain that he has a keylogger somewhere. Not sure where, but there is one there. That is the only way they are still getting it, especially if it's crazy intricate.

That's what I was deducing. It was either that or someone has access to his wifi at home and is snooping on what he was doing, but considering the area he is in, I thought that was pretty unlikely. I told him to wipe his phone and reset all his passwords after he resets his router. No idea what he's going to do, though.

Have him use a different email address. If they have access to his email address they can easily do a forgot your password on the site, access the email to click the link they send and reset it. Then all they have to do is permanently delete the reset email and no one knows the difference.
A lot of people overlook this when they are looking for stuff like this, and if it still happens after wiping everything i am willing to bet that this is the case.

Good suggestion. I will tell him to do that as well.

That would explain why MS doesn't think it's a hack if they saw the password reset through their email link.

If he uses gmail then on the bottom right have him click the link by activity. If they are doing this with the email then you will see ip's from different states, or even from a different country. If that is the case then they are definitely doing it through his email.

I set up my boy with a child Live account (since he's, you know, a child.)
How do I set it up so he can play online?
Also, does Rock Band 3 allow "piggyback" playing over live? That is, one player on one machine with Gold, but other players can play on that same machine online with the gold member, but appear as "Guest".

1) Only if he's gold
2) Yes, my brother and sister-in-law play local together and I join them all the time.
