More plot and gameplay info:

Spoiler:
Batman: Arkham City Gameplay and Plot Deets Drop
Written Tuesday, August 10, 2010 by Richard Walker

Those blogging folks have been at it again, leaking the latest Batman: Arkham City details onto the web via the Arkham City blog. The first plot and gameplay details come courtesy of Game Informer magazine - as a lot of these things tend to - revealing the basic premise of the game's story and a few juicy gameplay tidbits.

Apparently, the story revolves around Two-Face's attempts to kill off Catwoman in a bid to gain added credibility amongst the Gotham's network of villains and criminals. This will see Batman taking to the streets of Arkham City, which was created by (former Arkham Asylum warden and Mayoral candidate) Quincy Sharp when he bought and walled off part of the slums.

Batman will be well-equipped though, as he'll start the game with all of the gadgets he acquired in the last game as well as a useful cache of smoke bombs. And he can now counter two attackers at once, which should hopefully mean you can crack heads together.

Here are the details from the latest issue of Game Informer:

Plot info:

* Quincy Sharp is no longer running for mayor.
* Arkham Asylum and Black Gate Prison are unfit to hold inmates.
* Quincy Sharp buys off part of the slums and walls it off, creating Arkham City.
* Hugo Strange is now in charge of Arkham City.
* Two-Face plans to execute Catwoman to gain respect of inmates.
* The overdose of venom may not be what's wrong with the Joker.

Gameplay info:

* You are now able to counter two attacks at once.
* More puzzles.
* All gadgets included in the first game are available from the start.
* Side missions now feature in the game.
* Gangs roam Arkham City. These are recorded in Batman's criminal database.
* You find people who work for the Riddler to find Riddler challenges.
* Batman has smoke bombs.

Awesome news!

Spoiler:
All gadgets included in the first game are available from the start.

I really like the sound of that, so it's like a true continuation and they don't have to incorporate some lame plot point to start you all over.

I really hope they don't do that. God of War series did that and it was a bit annoying.

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum Sequel

It said in the Game Informer article that the developers specifically want to avoid that. Instead, they're going to offer new gadgets and upgrades. So while you'll have all the same stuff from the first game, it won't let you access everything right away.

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum Sequel

I don't know why games do that. It's like giving you a taste of power, and then you lose it. Two games that did that recently I can think of are Prototype and Darksiders.

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum Sequel

I think the point is to whet your appetite for when you get fully upgraded later in the game, but all it does is piss people off.

A cup of coffee or two usually makes it so I have a chance to read any new magazines.

Keep in mind that no details have been confirmed and we aren't 100% ruling out the possibility of VS multiplayer.

This wont be Rocksteady's first attempt at multiplayer. Their Playstation 2 frantic fps shooter Urban Chaos: Riot Response also featured net play of 8 players. There is no doubt that we will be seeing a lot more info on this feature soon.
Stay tuned for more info and don't forget to check back tomorrow for info on the Batman Arkham City articles featured in OXM and OPM.

PSM3 Is now available to buy from all good news agents and online. Do not ask for scans of the issue.

Stunning new Batman: Arkham City screens

Normally, I'm not into tatted up chicks or blondes but I sure as hell wish Harley was real!
