+2. Good lord this thing sounds f'ing terrible. I love the 360, honestly but it better come nowhere near my copy of Fable III (or be purely optional). I play video games to relax after a hard day of work, period. If I wanted exercise, I would go mow the lawn...with a pair of scissors.

I'm still waiting for Microsoft to come out and admit the whole Natal/Kinect thing has just been a practical joke to trick Sony into spending R&D money on their own motion control system.
But sadly, it looks like this overpriced thing and its really stupid games is actually going to come out.

It'll be $50 by Black Friday... I'm not sure I'd even bite at that price.

It has to have a pack-in game or two, doesn't it? I mean, it has to!
I'd be more interested if it includes at least 2 of the following:
Kinectimals
Adventures
Sports
Joy Ride
They're all just tech demos anyway and I just can't imagine a world where Microsoft is so out-of-touch, they'd release this at $150 for hardware alone.

Ok, probably not... I didn't realize that it launched on Nov 4th... that said, I don't think it will take long for MS to realize they've completely screwed the pooch on this thing and drop it to $100 by 2nd quarter 2011 and it'll be on clearance by Black Friday 2011.

Wal-Mart is offering pre-order bundles already: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Project-Na...x-360/14665155
$199 for the hardware, game of your choice (including Dance Central), and a $30 eGift Card.
Certainly a lot better than picking up the hardware and game for the assumed $210.

According to Major Nelson, the hardware is bundled with Kinect Adventures for the $150 price: http://majornelson.com/archive/2010/...ay-bundle.aspx

They need to either cut the price $50 or swap out Adventures and swap in Dance Central. Unless someone is really nice to me around Christmas time, I'll be waiting for a price drop.

Here's Microsoft's reasoning behind the pricing.

I wasn't aware that Wii Fit was needed to experience motion controls on the Wii.

Sony or Nintendo should come out with a new chart showing how much it would cost for three people to play a motion-sensing game together!

I love this quote from IGN:
Aaron Greenberg, Director of Product Management of Xbox 360 and Xbox Live, explained the pricing and bundle choices to IGN during a pre-announcement news briefing.
"We don't really make pricing decisions without doing a lot of research. We talked with thousands of consumers across a whole variety of audience segments, on a global scale. What we heard was that when people look at what they get with the Kinect sensor -- all the experiences it enables across entertainment, movies, music, using your voice to access your entertainment, your gestures navigating the dash, etc. plus all of the games coming to market -- our research shows that at $149 consumers feel like it's a great value for existing owners. And then for new buyers, the $299 bundle is extremely compelling."
Really? You did research with 360 owners who felt $150 for a camera peripheral is a "great value"? I sort of doubt that. Besides that phrasing is, in itself, qualified praise -- they didn't think it was a great price, but with all they get, with all it can do, with what it'll enable in the future... Somehow they got their subjects to eventually agree with the price. And even that I don't believe.

Pretty scathing preview of Kinect in its current state by IGN UK.

Hey, it could be like ROB the robot, where the games controlled better without him.
