Re: Borderlands
There are a couple of choices you have here....
A - just play solo as the game is fun
B - yea...find someone like you just starting out or around that same level
C - find someone that's leveled way ahead of you, invite them in to help you "fly" thru with a bit of ease. More players = more enemies, more XP, more money, more chances
D - find someone that's leveled way ahead of you and have them invite you so you'll get leveled up pretty fast, gain more money and better chance of better weapons

Re: Borderlands
are the DLC's worth it and are they for multi-player only?
i saw Zombie Island didn't get as good reviews as Knoxx (just looked at #'s), but i like the idea of killing zombies. Secret Armory seems to have been getting real good reviews.

Re: Borderlands
also, a video review i saw said if playing Secret Armory on 2nd playthrough only, prepare to die...alot. does that mean each playthrough on the main game gets you to a higher level in order to progress further?
thanks.

Re: Borderlands
i dunno. i think with the Halo (which is the only game i really have experience with) maps stuff...all that was multi-player only DLC's. guess i just assumed a lot had to do with mp and know Borderlands is kinda made for the mp experience.

Re: Borderlands
the more you play, the better character you create and the different/better things you can achieve in the game on subsequent playthroughs.
you can then take that stronger character and play through the DLC's (single player if so choose) and still increase character characteristics. the better you do, perhaps the more enjoyment you'll get out of the whole experience.
sound somewhat coherent?
bottomline...if i enjoyed the hell out of the Halo series (though far different games) i will enjoy the hell out of Borderlands and all that it has to offer.

Re: Borderlands
Yes. The whole game is based around loot. Tougher enemies drop better loot. More players cause the enemies to drop better loot.
Ergo, 4 players playing against the strongest enemies (found in Knoxx, btw) yield the best chance at epic loot.

Re: Borderlands
and the loot, i assume, is used to buy better stuff, in terms of weapon upgrades and ability of character upgrades at stores strewn about the game? and this makes it RPG-ish.

Re: Borderlands
Good to know. I was admittedly being snarky though because the question kind of amused me. Typically people ask this when referring to JRPGs or a Metal Gear title which are known for long cut scenes or the old school design of spaced out checkpoints with no "save anywhere" feature. There aren't many "American" style games that can't be easily played in chunks of an hour.
Therefore scott's question kind of amused me.
edit: As for DLC. Moxxie's is definitely not as good as the others due to being so hard and necessitating 4 players. However, I think the Moxxie character is the best thing in the Borderlands verse.

There are vending machines scattered across the world but most of your weapons will be dropped by enemies or found in chests along the way

Re: Borderlands
i hopped on a $17.00 "like new" because i was tenacious and the seller was clueless (or so he said). should get it this week and will go on for a bit (just to check to see if working) and then probably get into it after Dead Space concludes.

Re: Borderlands
For me...
Zombieland - worth it. A little bit of different play-style mainly "watch your back". and picking the right guns to do the right job.... Dead Haven is a chore but yet fun.
Knoxx - worth it to. Just a lot of driving and takes a bit to find yourself around from one place to another. The main gripe...no fast travel. Some different enemies and different challenges. But the payoff are the Armorys where it's like a kid at ToysRus free-for-all.Find someone that's above Level 56 and ride their coat-tails thru it for some pretty outstanding guns. Just make sure you have space to collect them.
Moxxi- it's ok but the big plus is "The Bank".....where you have extra slots to stash which ever stuff, guns, grenades, or mods you want. This is a big bonus if you have several characters going at once like me. If your Soldier says comes across mods or a elemental artifact for say your Siren or Brick. Grab, put it in your bank and give to the other character later. That's the only real plus with Moxxi as you don't gain any XP points except completing it or win or lose money either. It's more like mini-Horde matches.
