Re: scribblenauts anyone?

I started to fall in love with this game through the 1-x and 2-x puzzles, but the 3-x ones have just about killed it for me. The caveman/dinosaur omelet one sucks. I tried tons of different things, including summoning an omelet and a fire. That didn't even work at first because the idiot cavemen just stomps out the fire if you put it down first.

Then I tried the one with the lost sheep. I took the fox out, built a suspension bridge and put a leash on the lamb. I got to the bridge and it fell in the water when I tried to cross it. I tried again, putting a boat in the water to cross on. The lamb wouldn't jump/be pulled onto the boat. I'll have to try the shepherd thing mentioned above, but it's annoying other common sense solutions don't work.

Then there's the 'penguin wants three small fish' puzzle. First, I got the names of the fish, conjured them and fed them to him. That didn't work, so I guess he wanted the exact ones in the water. I tried fishing for them with a pole and that worked for the first one, but not the other two. I put on scuba gear, hopped in and grabbed the fish. That killed them. I took a net down with me and caught them with that to bring them to the surface. They died that way too. I really don't know what else to do on this one.

Overall, it's a really neat concept that's leaving me feeling a little cheated. Like if someone created a time machine and I bought one, then found it only worked at 2:30 am on the first Tuesday of each month and would only let me travel fifteen seconds into the future. Hopefully they do a sequel with a lot better execution.

Re: scribblenauts anyone?

I had no problem with the Penguin one. Scuba gear, Scuba tank and oxygen mask all work. Swim down, grab fish and return it to the penguin. That's it. I have no idea why your fish are dying.

I should have been more clear on the dino one. I actually used a lighter and started a fire for the caveman.

I do agree though about levels 3-4. They are getting pretty tough already. I'm on one where you have to pull a chariot up a hill. Simple right? A pickup truck and a chain doesn't work. I can't get a horse to work either. I skipped a couple as well. The cow in the road has me baffled as does the bull in a china shop. I have no idea what to do on that one.

Re: scribblenauts anyone?

Ok, I tried the shepherd on the suspension bridge and he was standing on it and the sheep knocked it into the water when he tried to get on it. Come on.

I was able to swim down with scuba gear, get the fish and bring them to the penguin. Maybe the game was glitching before, because I had been trying it that exact way and the two bottom fish would die about halfway to the surface every time.

On the chariot up the hill, think airlift.

No idea on the cow in the road. Tried killing the cow in multiple ways and all those resulted in a fail. Put a cowboy on a horse and gave him a lasso and he wouldn't do anything. Put a rope on the cow and drug him all the way to the right and the roaming butcher killed him to fail. Killed the butcher and failed. This is less a game about being creative and more a game about guessing what its makers thought was creative.

Re: scribblenauts anyone?

Let me know if you want me to check the game guide for you guys. You know, the one that's pathetic and indicates that you shouldn't be playing the game?

Seriously, I don't have the guide, but I agree about the levels getting harder. It can be frustrating when you think of a number of great words but the items, which logically should work, don't work in the manner you need them too.

You make a great point. But in a game with so many possibilities, should this be expected? I was pondering over this question last night and I personally don't have an answer. I'd like to hear some of the opinions of those who are playing.

Do you think the creators could make the game better next time, because I love the concept.

It would certainly help to make you have direct control over Maxwell. That's the source of at least 80% of the frustrations.

The game went to a whole new level for me last night when I found out a Dingo will only eat a baby.

Both of these hit the nail on the head. I think there is even a big bonus or special star or something if you clear it the exact way they intended.

Yeah, I used a cattle prod to get him to move and same deal, butcher killed him.

I agree. I did one yesterday where you take a patient to a surgeon on top of a hill/mountain. Pulled out a helicopter and a rope, tied it to the patient and got to the surgeon. The starite appeared so I hop out to grab it and the helicopter plummets to the ground crushing the surgeon. Oops! Paging Dr. Romano!

Hilarious!

I agree that the controls are too wonky and since that's a universal gripe, next time they'll have to fix them.

One thing I find infuriating is that the jackhammer doesn't work on places that are clearly pavement. Isn't that what jackhammers are for? Is it just me?

On the Cow in the Road level I "THINK" you have to get rid of the butcher somehow. I got him to drop is knife by giving him a steak (so now he doesn't try and kill the cow), but the cow won't go near him.

I tried giving the butcher a steak and he didn't drop the knife for me.

Re: scribblenauts anyone?

I forget which world it is, I think 4-something, but "bull in a china shop" was awesome. I just...

Spoiler:
stood in the middle on the bottom where the starite would show up, then created a nuke and dropped it from the top of the screen. It destroyed everything, including Maxwell, but since I was standing where the starite would appear it gave me the win.

Even with my issues with the game, and there are tons of them (possibly the most glitch-ridden game I've ever played), I still find myself playing this game every single day.

No, you just have to...

Spoiler:
lift the cow so that the traffic can pass. I created a helicopter and rope and lifted the cow that way and after the traffic passed it gave me the starite.

You win for imaginative ideas...now can you explain why the stupid jackhammer only works on wood? That's insane!

Spoiler:
i completed it in a similar way: pegasus and lasso. i pulled the cow to the far left so the cars could pass

Re: scribblenauts anyone?

hello, internet access! So I played with this game over the weekend while I waited for u-verse to be installed. The controls are wonky(as many many folks mention) but I'm still enjoying myself. I was playing through levels 1 and 2 with a friend (she had her ds and had mine) and it was kinda of amazing how different we thought on things. example, her first thought for flight: jet pack. Mines: hot air balloon.
Also, glue is awesome - just throwing that out there.

Glue has not been my friend at all! I think I'm using it on the wrong items.

Re: scribblenauts anyone?

I got the chariot up the hill easily, i summoned an ox and a rope. It took him a minute, but the ox was strong enough to pull it uphill with me riding him. Also, for the cow in the road, I summoned a UFO and placed it right over the cow, then got in it and went straight up, the controls are too screwy to move around, just go straight up and wait there a minute, the UFO pulls the cow up with you, then all the cars drive by.

I understand glue....attached to a pole, but where the heck does the zombie fit in?

Re: scribblenauts anyone?

I just saw a video that shows how to beat almost every single action level. Don't watch if you wont be able to resist doing it:

Spoiler:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uifn5hUF6LM&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uifn5hUF6LM&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Another cheat - when you're going back to do the levels three times for gold:

Spoiler:
If, say, the first time you use a rope, you shouldn't be able to use it again. However if instead of just saying rope you say "ro pe" or "long" rope or "kj;kjaa" rope or anything rope, it'll still give it to you to use again. So really, all three times, if you want to cheat, you can just use the same items over and over again.

Both cheats ruin the entire point of the game, so I don't see why anyone would do it, but there ya go.

attach pole to zombie with more glue. I needed something slow moving that will go forward on its own. It was the first thing I thought of; seemed to work.

so, do you recommend this game for a 10 years old girl?
She loves the Professor Layton games.
