That seems to be the way things are shaking out. Buy S/S for single player and Blur for MP.

I agree! I really like S/S's Single player but the time I've spent with it online was just ok. BLUR on the other hand offers a great MP experience and I've a TON of fun playing it.

Am I the only person who just can't earn fans in Blur?

I'm on the third section of single player, and not once have I hit the fan target. And the game punishes you for taking the lead and keeping it apparently. If I get out in front, all the fan challenges become meaningless and you don't earn any points.

I liked in the PGR games that when you'd earn Kudos the game made it obvious both visually and audibly. In Blur it's like I don't have any clue if I'm doing well in the fan department or not until I get to the end and see that I was 1,000 fans short of meeting the goal.

During the loading screen you can see what the fan target is, and your current fan count is on the screen during the race (upper right corner, I think).

I wouldn't say it punishes you for getting to first and staying there, but if you're strictly trying to earn fans, that's not the way to do it. Stay towards the back of the pack for the first lap or two, use shit loads of weapons, drift a lot, complete the fan challenges, then jump to 1st-3rd during the last lap and you'll be golden.

I've been having a lot of fun with this recently. While simple, the multiplayer portion of the game is pretty solid and I have yet to experience and weird glitches or lag.

I can never connect to MP... says the servers aren't available. not sure what gives... every other game works fine.

officially sick of the bullshit with this game. The PS3 MP is such a clusterfuck... I've only been able to connect twice in the two weeks I've had this.

Just traded it to amazon for $26.25. Shame too, because its a fun game, when it worked.

Never had a problem with connecting to PSN or racing MP. No lag, no disconnects, and there is always an open race to join.

This is actually the very first online game I've ever played and I'm having a blast with it. Can't believe how addictive it gets and how you always want to play just one more race.

The PS3 connection issues are widespread but don't seem to affect everyone. I had to update my router firmware to the latest version, then set up port forwarding as described here:

The multiplayer is pretty fun. And it's set up in a way where you can be fairly competitive even if you suck (as I do).

Yeah I tried the survey this morning when the thread was locked (?) and got the survey closed screen.

After playing the demo for Blur, and Split Second I chose SS. Then when K-Mart had it advertised for $39.99 plus coupled with the $20 off coupon, at $19.99 I picked it up.
