Having had access for the weekend, the game is fun, but the multiplayer beta seems fairly limited as far as tracks and cars go, so it ends up being the same thing after just a few races until you reach certain ranks. I like the combination of actual cars with power ups.

I had been enjoying the game, but then tonight I unlocked Motor Mash and it increased exponentially! Granted I was playing with friends, and I think that'll be a very important key to the game, but that free for all battle style was a lot of fun.

Spent a couple hours in it last night with friends.
Fun but frustrating is the best way I can sum it up. The rubber banding in Mario Kart has nothing on the bullshit that flies in Blur. I can't tell you how many times I lost races on the last leg because I was nailed by every fucking car racing. First to last was a common occurrence. So common that the game feels totally lucked based vs. skill based. At least in Mario Kart you can build a nice lead and get some decent defensive weapons to maintain the lead. Also, once you are in last, it's impossible to come back. You're merely fighting for 2nd to last. There were a couple races where that happened where I just sat the controller down and didn't finish. Very frustrating.
It doesn't help that every car in the standard race mode handles like utter shit. I'd put the handling just a notch above Full Auto and that's not a compliment. However, once the Supercar racing was unlocked things improved greatly. The fluidity of the racing seemed more skill based than the standard mode and the handling was greatly improved.
The game was most fun once, like Superfro, I unlocked Motor Mash. Now that was a fucking blast.
The Modern Warfare leveling up system is a great idea, but seems utterly pointless given the high speed nature of the game. When you're getting knocked around like a pinball, just getting an item can be a task, let alone trying to get the one you need to level up. Unlocking cars and mods based on race performance leveling is great though.
Final judgement: Unless Split/Second puts out a demo that totally bombs or rakes in the bad reviews, that's where I think I'll put my money. There's just too much luck involved in Blur for me to plunk down $60 for it. Not worth the frustration level.

I was commenting on the same thing last night. Once you're in the lead you absolutely pummeled and once you get behind you can seemingly never catch up. I haven't gotten to the frustration point with it though. I think the races are so quick that I don't really have time to worry about it. Half of the time I'm having too much fun to worry about where I'm ranking, and you still get "experience" no matter what. The leveling system seems to take the pressure off having to do the best in the race. I'm basically working towards that next unlock more than I am worried about getting into 1st place.

I got to try out Split Second last year, and have been hyped for it ever since. I've only put in a couple hours with the Blur multi-player beta and it's fun, but I don't see Blur doing very well with Spit Second coming out 3 weeks earlier, unless there is a huge group of Project Gotham lovers that migrate over to Blur.

They just sent me three extra codes. Whoever would like them just post here. I'll reserve the first one for RyoHazuki. So two to go for whoever wants one after that.

I gave all mine out, but there seems to be no shortage of codes on cag. There's probably two dozen codes posted in the 360 Blur thread.

I played it last night, and the cars do handle like complete shit. A friend of mine didnt notice, but I play so many racing games it was the first thing I noticed. Good concept, but I see Split/Second having the edge.

Purchase Blur from Kmart or Sears and you will unlock a chromed out BMW Series 1 to race out of the gate.
