On whether or not to boycott the game? Maybe. But on the underlying issue it was more of the same - disagree and get called names or worse. There was no attempt to present Card's side other than to demonize him.

I don't think Destructoid needs to weigh in on the gay marriage debate. If you agree with Card, you won't be considering a boycott anyway. This was an article aimed at people who think Card's views are reprehensible and who need to see the pros and cons of a boycott.

Unless his beliefs are pushed in the game I don't give two shits about what he believes. Even then, if it is done respectfully in a way that has to do with a character or development said character in some fashion then it's fine by me.
I don't see why people get so up in arms about what 'celebs' believe. As long as they aren't knocking on my door and ramming it down my throat, they are free to believe what they want. It may not jive mine and/or popular(?) opinion, but that's his right as a citizen of this country.

Are they using Card to promote their game?
I only knew about him until reading the Destructoid post. And I started reading about the game since E3 because of all the awards the game received. They may have mentioned the name but I didn't know who he was.

I would like to point out that this game is still fucking awesome...and you are missing out if you skip it. Who gives a shit what someone who made the game thinks. It is not like we are shooting babies in this game or anything....The plot is so thin, even if there was a right wing message, no one would notice. I am VERY moderate, but that has never kept me from enjoying a good Charlton Heston, or Michael Moore film.
To bad I stated playing Batman...it will be a while before I get those last 20 achievement points now.

Sorry, but I
at someone being VERY moderate.
That's like going out for dinner and ordering something VERY medium.

lol..I have no other way of describing my views. Have you ever ordered a medium steak, and got a medium well? I know a lot of people who say they are moderate, but they definitely lean one way or another, but usually have one view they find away from their core faith.
I am so confused and wishy-washy....the only thing I know for sure is I am VERY moderate.
Right to own Guns=good
God=not real
Gay Marriage=good
Flat Tax=good
Legal Drugs=good
reorganizing current food stamp program to mimic the WIC program=good
less government=good
strong military=good (I am fully aware of how contradicting the last two statements are)
am I libertarian? Hell I don't know.

wow - what a well spent $15. my first run through with 100% of items was completed in 15:17:40. a little less than a dollar an hour for some great fun. a highly recommended game.

I decided to finish the game to be able to play Batman AA. I wasn't able to complete 100%, I was around 90%, Level 19 I think.
I loved this game. One of the best games of this year.

Re: The Official Shadow Complex Thread of "Until Metroid Dread is Released"
Well, I just beat the game with 98% of the items. There were no question marks left on the map, so I was a little confused. Much to my chagrin, I had to resort to a guide. Turns out that there are two items
It would've taken hours of scouring the map to find them on my own, so I don't feel too bad about it. I did the 98% all on my own, so I can live with using a guide for the last 2%.
Tomorrow I need to go get those last two items, beat the game again, and finish off the remaining challenge rooms. Overall I will have put about 11 or 12 hours into the game. Even if I never touch it again, that's a great deal of entertainment for $15.

Yep, one of those hidden-in-a-save-room-items kept me from getting 100% on my first playthrough, too. Luckily, I copied that 99% save onto a memory card before I beat the end boss and when I found that last item on my next playthrough, I went back and loaded up the save from the memory card and it wasn't long before. . . achievement unlocked.

That's not a bad idea. I've never come up with a use for my on-board memory card except to save my profile. I'll give it a try since I'm (finally) nearly done with this and would like to wrap it up soom to start Batman AA.

Re: The Official Shadow Complex Thread of "Until Metroid Dread is Released"
My son bought this game, and is also having a blast. They really made it so that even a young one can get into it, as the real hard parts are only if you are going for 100% and trying to complete the challenge maps, which really were not that hard to begin with.
Speaking of Card...I had never read Ender's Game, and all this talk of boycott made me want to check him out so I picked it up. I was not expecting such a low reading level, but once I got past that it really was an enjoyable book. A little 80's naive in its approach to video games and the Internet (especially its focus on regional networks) but very enjoyable, with two moments that gave me chills. Highly recommended if not a little easy to read.

But it definitely seems like Shadow Complex's success and appreciation has absolutely nothing to do with Card's involvement, but rather some incredible game programmers.

Has anybody else encountered the bug where your in-game map shows all 12 passkeys collected, yet your items page only shows 11 out of 12?

Re: The Official Shadow Complex Thread of "Until Metroid Dread is Released"
I'm not sure if that's a bug, but it's definitely an inefficiency in the map. There are a couple of squares on the map that actually house 2 power-ups, and getting the first will remove the ? and you'll miss the other.
