I am also really curious about this game. I can't wait to check out the demo this evening.


edit: I am jealous of Piņata winning Gyromancer. That is a game i kind of want but think it is a little derivative and overpriced so i haven't broken down to buy it yet.

Several CAG people (CAG'ers? CAGgots? I don't know what they call themselves.) have reported that the codes don't work when entered.

It definitely is both of those things, but for free it's worth it. The system is pretty interesting once you get into it with all the affinities and strategy. But it is ultimately playing against yourself.

Well, it was worth a shot. I'll check when I get home, but I would imagine I can get my money back from Amazon despite their anti-refund on Digital policy. Knowing I'm not the only one certainly helps that process.

Yeah, I get a message from Xbox.com that There is a problem with the offer associated with this code. That sucks. Amazon better refund me, that's all I can say. I'm sure they will though -- they've got great customer service.

Are there many creatures to collect that would give the game variety? That is what sounded neat - collecting creatures to use effectively seemed like it would give you the equivalent of a bunch of different character classes (like in Puzzle Quest).

It is disappointing to see neither Gyromancer nor Galactrix capture what made Puzzle Quest so great.

And I just got the first Assassin's Creed 2 DLC (The Battle of Forli) from the latest giveaway. Got this one on the first try using the same letter that won it for me last time: D.

Not really, no. There are like 18 or 20 creatures, the last 5 of which are still locked for me. Each of those has 3 versions (different level caps, more powerful abilities).

Each creature has different strengths and weaknesses against the various affinities. I ended up with a team of 3, each powerful against 2 affinity types and I tried not to have any overlap, but I think I had one. So you go into a battle and, worst case, you pick a creature that is on a level playing field with the opponent.

I stuck with that team throughout the game, only upgrading to the more powerful versions as I picked up their codexes.

It's a decent game, but there won't be much to do in it once you beat it. If they added a head-to-head mode, it would be better.

I still plan to get Galactrix if it ever goes on sale, even though I know it won't hold a candle to PQ...

I second that...good lord...I mean I won like a year of Xbox Live a while back because of some Grand Theft Auto IV contest, but you are winning left and right Great job though!

Are people seriously rushing just to buy Paperboy just because it was pulled from Live? Seriously?

I just have Twitter open and a tab for the Redeem Token link on xbox.com. Other than that, I pick a code in the middle of the list and type it in, guessing a random character for the ?. If that doesn't work, the page refreshes with my last guess and I just replace the guessed letter and hit enter. I do that until I get bored or it tells me the code worked or was previously used.

It's just about being lucky and at the computer at the time.

Maybe you could send a message to Major Nelson and have him give away a code for it. Sounds like it'd do the trick.

HEY HEY! ....Paperboy was teh awesome...like...25 years ago. Good lord I feel old.

The only game I have (that's worth playing on that list) is UMK3.

I tried a little P.B. Winterbottom this morning. My daughter said "Hey, that's just like the Ratchet & Clank game". She's a smart one. Anyway, it's got a great art style and cool old-fashoned ragtime piano music. The artificial film scrapes get a little annoying -- I think it was Wet that had them as well. The puzzles are pretty clever, using that record mechanic cleverly -- especially using clones to smack you to higher locations. I liked it but did not love the game. Didn't buy it yet. I might consider waiting until I see how the very similar PSN Echo game turns out. It's due to arrive soon.

I played P.B. Winterbottom for about 20 minutes and I like it.

Heh, well I already sent the email to get my money returned and they denied me. Said because I viewed the code, they can not process a refund. Of course, there is no way not to view the code once you buy it , but still. Needless to say irate letter was sent. I was still calm about it but I pointed out that the code simply did not work and therefore they were selling an invalid product. We'll see.

Fuck that. Call them, ask to speak to a CS for digital sales. They're well aware of the problem and pulled the games later in the day. They issued me a refund right away and they'll do the same to you. It's way too easy to deny requests by email. Click the Contact Me By Phone button at Amazon's Help site and you'll be talking to a rep in a couple of minutes.

Found it interesting, but not an immediate buy. The downside of all these weekly sales is now I want to wait for them instead of buying week one.
