The new Lucasarts screen shot looks pretty cool.
Also, i have heard good things about the Plants vs. Zombies game on several podcasts. I look forward to checking out the demo.

Plants vs Zombies is an awesome game. I'm curious how well it will translate to XBLA, as it would undoubtedly be slower to plant and pick up sunshine then the PC version.

Played a few levels of 'Splosion Man with a local friend last night. Sometimes his ping drops down into the yellow. The lag when we were playing made it impossible.
We were seeing each other in different locations than we actually were and it made dual-sploding impossible. Serious problems with game synching due to lag, that needs to be addressed immediately.
Hopefully if some of us get together, we won't experience that.

Yeah, it's mentioned in the VG deals thread. Not bad if you use that stuff. I got the Maxim today so I'll try that out tomorrow. The shower gel looks nice with a cool scrub brush thing included, but the coupon probably won't work on that; I'll try it out just to be sure.
If someone is disappointed about getting a $5 GC with 1600 points instead of $5 off the card, this might be a good thing to use the GC on.

Just to reiterate : Splosion Man is all sorts of awesome. It's hard as hell, yet always possible if things go just right. Normally if I'm frustrated, I'll just move on; here I keep trying and trying. I'm on stage 2-2 now. I had originally chosen to take The Way of the Coward on 1-10 (a total biyatch of a level) after struggling with it for over a half hour, but once I defeated the Stage 1 boss and didn't get an Achievement, I went back and beat it after many, MANY more failures. Only then did I discover that there's no Achievement for beating Stage 1 or the first boss. Any other game I'd be really pissed at that point, but here I don't mind. This is just a superb game -- easily in the top five on the Arcade.

I just finished that level. Damn that was hard. My completion time was 15:06. I did get the achievment "Lay off the caffeine" so it wasn't all bad.

I love it too, I'm on level 3-2 now. Level 2-9 was absolute hell though, I almost threw my controller due to that damn puzzle (??) but was driven to finish it and did... in 21 minutes. (1:15 par time)
But yeah, HATE YOU, level 2-9.
Otherwise, it really is a superb game, it's like a 3d overhaul of a 16-bit gem that never was.

I'm stuck on 1-11. It's the one with all the flying enemies that shoot lasers at you. I keep killing them but more and more keep coming. Is there an exit to the level or do you just keep killing them?

Is that the level with the 'tetris blocks'? If so, you can kill/dodge the flying machines and then keep going up and to the right/left.

Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose
360voice.com has been down/sub-functional for a while. Now we can finally see those recent XBLA numbers. For me, the big surprise was the big discrepancy between Monkey Island SE and Splosion Man. Both were big sellers, but I was pretty surprised that Monkey Island outsold Splosion by more than 1000 among users on the site (2836 to 1826). While I love both games and think both are bargains at 800 points each, I really thought that Splosion Man had by far the better demo. Also, since Monkey Island had no new game content, I thought many would pass on this version. I guess the familiarity of the franchise helped it sell. It's the first good selling point & click adventure, far outselling the two other recent titles (W&G sold 292, Sam & Max sold 390).
In less successful news, Madballs in Babo : Invasion only had 137 copies on day one (at 800 points; imagine if it were 1200 points as originally planned). Tour de France 2009 sold a miserable 75. Honestly, I'm surprised it sold even that well; that game was awful and looked like ass. I honestly didn't think Madballs was that bad a demo. I think it might have been hurt coming out when it did : one week after Battlefield 1943, the same day as Monkey Island and one week before the Summer of the Arcade. If it had come out the same day as that robot badminton game, I bet it would have done at least a little better.
