Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Sneak attack critical FTW! I was able to kill it before it got near me.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I just got through playing Old World Blues. I liked it, I'd say each DLC for this game has improved upon the other. Looking forward to Lonesome Road.
Is anyone else close to maxing out their stats? I have everything at 100 except Unarmed, Melee, and Survival. Oh and Stealth is at 70. |

Man the Legendary Botfly in Old World Blues kicked my ass. I didn't expect it to be a challenge at all but it killed me in 3 hits (bear in mind that I'm a level 44 with the Remants power armor). Next time around I had to keep a finger on the B button so I could take stimpaks at a moment's notice (ended up using 12 before I killed it).

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I was a bit cocky and just stood out in the open and let it hit me while I was firing at it, thought my armor could withstand whatever it had.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I've waited until the add-ons came out, now I'm starting in with all of them plugged in.
I'm so stoked! I played Fallout 3 so many times through, I just liked being in that environment. Now I'm loving the New Vegas feel. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Awesome, hope you enjoy it. What system are you playing on?
There's still one expansion to come, fyi. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Only one more? FO 3 had five.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Lonesome Road is the last one they've announced, and they've implied (though not stated outright as far as I know) that it'll be the last. It's due in August and will involve
Spoiler:
It will also increase the level cap again to 50, which seems like a good number to end on. Plus, there's speculation that a GOTY version will be announced for the holiday season, so more DLC wouldn't fit with that timeline. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Hurry up and release the content so I can buy the GOTY edition ;)

There's still one expansion to come, fyi. I'm playing on PC. Once I converted over from console on Oblivion, I'm staying PC for Bethesda games.

I'm loving the new game. It's just awesome. The new enhanced leveling system, all the weapons, modding them without the mod addons I had to use for Fallout 3, etc. Great game and I'm still way early. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I'm about 80 hours in now and I guess I've reached the point where I have to choose a side (I've seduced and killed Benny, his robot told me to check out all of the factions, both the NCR and Caesar want to meet with me). To bide my time before I make my decision for this first run through, I've been trying to complete the outstanding open missions that I've banked. Loving this game.

I prefer the Fallout 3 method, honestly, because I like to build up my character to eventually be able to do just about everything on one playthrough, but I guess the argument is that it makes you too powerful (and my counterargument is that by the time you hit the level cap, you're already pretty much a walking god -- why not have a few extra perks too?). |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Gotcha. I think I'd prefer Fallout 3's system, too. Two days ago I maxed out my level to 30. It was kind of a let down knowing that I won't be able to get a lot of those perks. Also, some of my skills are laughably low and will stay that way, temporary use of magazines notwithstanding. :(
Guess I'll have to grab some of the DLC, so I can keep leveling up. Of course, I should finish the main game first (I still have yet to pick a side; that's today's project). |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I just put this back in after a long hiatus (played/finished Alan Wake and a couple other things.)
I'm still near the beginning, I'm heading to find Benny, and I'm working on a side quest to find the cause of the radioactive water. I'm in the area where the answer is, but I'm getting killed. My weapons suck, my companions get in my way, and I'm out of stimpacks. For some reason NV seems like more "work" than F3. Am I missing something? Playing Fallout 3, I was able to get some good weapons - not overpowered, but decently powered that made a decent dent in the enemy. Any tips would be appreciated - it's starting to move from fun to work and it might return to the shelf, even though I want to play and enjoy it. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Lower the difficulty, at least temporarily?
I did that quest early on my first playthrough too. Some areas/quests should just be saved for later after you've levelled up, and that's definitely one of them. I'd recommend backing out for now. (You'll also need a lot of Rad medicine there too, especially in the later parts, or you're done for.) |

Achievement list and images for the supposedly final DLC, Lonesome Road:
Spoiler:
Some interesting speculation arises from the list: Spoiler:
More info (likely a release date and images) coming later this week. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I couldn't believe Caesar was such a dick.
Spoiler:
I got back from the Fort, I had left Boone and ED-E on land in Freeside before going to see Caesar, I got them, and Boone said Spoiler:
What a fight... it was terrific. Very tough. Enough loot to set you up with money for life. I have more money than I can spend now, and I buy every round of ammo every shop has every time I hit it. Spoiler:
The enhanced leveling system is both you leveling up, but also small achievements for doing specific things. Crippling heads, torsos, left arms, right arms, each leg. Killing. Killing with guns, killing with energy weapons. What you kill. Etc. It's a much more in-depth leveling system, and those 'mini' achievements give you perks when you complete them that are pretty cool. You needn't level up to get perks in the game. It's a better, more well rounded leveling system I think. dtcarson, you are going way too fast. You're out of your league and that's why it's so difficult. You shouldn't be over in that area yet. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Hi everyone,
We just wanted to drop in here and let you know that due to circumstances beyond our control, Lonesome Road won’t be out this month. This isn’t due to any major issue with the code or content, but there are lots of factors involved in releasing these things, and one of those is causing us to slip past our intended release date. We don’t have an exact date yet, but we’re working to get it out as quickly as possible. We’ll be announcing the final date, along with a couple of other interesting FNV-related items in the near future. Thanks, The teams at Bethesda and Obsidian |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I am having the damnedest time with Veronica. I've sided with the NCR for this first go-round and am at the Brotherhood of Steel part of "For the Republic pt. 2". As I have been doing, I'm trying to go the peaceful route, but according to the FNV Wiki, I need to complete Veronica's quest before I can make any truce with the BoS.
So I got Veronica as my companion and for a couple of hours have been doing side quests and repeatedly going around to the "trigger" areas, but she's only spoken up once. I've already done the dialogue triggers with other people pre-Veronica and they can't be repeated. Think I'm too far along in the story to actually do her quest? Also, for some reason my enemies no longer turn red when I scope them out with a weapon. Weird. Can I fix this somehow? EDIT: Just Googled my last question and the red enemies are a perk with Boone. I've been using him as my companion for so long I thought that was just the norm. |

DLC update:
Lonesome Road coming September 20th; Courier’s Stash and Gun Runners’ Arsenal one week later (Updated) The Courier’s journey ends this September. We’re excited to share that Lonesome Road, the fourth add-on pack for Fallout: New Vegas, will be available for download on Xbox LIVE, PlayStation Network and Steam on September 20th. In Lonesome Road you are contacted by the original Courier Six, a man by the name of Ulysses who refused to deliver the Platinum Chip at the start of Fallout: New Vegas. Ulysses promises the answer as to why he didn’t take the job, but only if you make one last journey into the hurricane-swept canyons of the Divide, a landscape torn apart by earthquakes and violent storms. It’s up to you whether you take the job or not. But wait! There’s more!! Today we’re also announcing two additional DLC packs, Courier’s Stash and Gun Runners’ Arsenal, which will be available for download one week later on September 27th. Courier’s Stash (Xbox LIVE for 160 Microsoft points, PlayStation Network and Steam for $1.99) gives players immediate access to four content bundles previously available only through pre-ordering Fallout: New Vegas. The Caravan Pack, Classic Pack, Mercenary Pack and Tribal Pack each offer unique weapons, apparel and aid advantages that will help you throughout your journey. Gun Runners’ Arsenal (Xbox LIVE for 320 Microsoft points, PlayStation Network and Steam for $3.99) increases the range of unique weapons, weapon mods, ammo types and recipes waiting to be uncovered in the vast Mojave Wasteland. Among the unqiue weapons added are the Bozar, an all-powerful 5.56mm Light Machine Gun, the Smitty Special, an overwhelming variant of the Plasma Caster, the MFC Cluster mine, the Esther, a unique Mini Nuke Launcher, and the ridiculous Nuka Breaker – a new melee weapon made from a Nuka-Cola neon sign. In total Gun Runners’ Arsenal adds 27 new weapons, 40 new weapon modifications for existing weapons, 18 new new recipes, and 29 new ammo types — including the 12 Ga. Dragon’s Breath, Hive Missiles, and 25mm/40mm Plasma Grenades. Finally, Gun Runners’ Arsenal also adds more than 20 all-new challenges to the Mojave Wasteland. |

Sweet news on the packs.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I beat the game last night (as NCR). First time I've completed one in a while. What a great time.
I had planned on taking a bit of a break from it before I try the Legion/neutral paths. Since I only had a PS2 during Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic initial release, I feel I missed out on that game. Borrowed it from my nephew and started the tutorial last night. I think I'm going to go back to FNV, maybe even get some DLC. (Though I'll likely wait for a sale on those.) |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Just a reminder that Lonesome Road, the final (?) story expansion DLC for New Vegas, is out today. You can download it for 360 here (800 MSP).
They picked an awful release date. Normally this would be an insta-get for me, but with Gears 3 releasing today it will have to wait. |
