I am right at the end, I think. But I don't want to finish until I do some more quests, especially the ones that give you acheivements.

 This seems to work for a lot of people. I believe you can purchase one at Mick and Ralph's.

You can also try taking the monorail from Camp McCarran, if it's still functional in your game.

Thanks for the tips. I'll try the hat. I don't think the monorail is working anymore.

Holy shit! it worked!

Just for future references, yeah, bought the hat at Mick and Ralph's, Mick was the one that sold it to me.

The game has frozen on me twice in the last two days, both when in VATS. It causes my controller to vibrate wildly.

trying to decide if it is worth getting the swift learner perk.
is it easy to max out your level before you get the last mission? I plan on doing most of the side quests.

also, if you pick up a companion, does he take away xp? do you get credit for the stuff he kills?

nickdawgy 11-15-10 01:06 PM

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

Yes, any kills your companion(s) get, you get credit for XP wise.

Swift Learner is a total waste, especially now that you only get a maximum of 15 perks for a character. If you do most of the side quests you'll have no trouble reaching level 30 without it.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

Yeah, I'm already level 27 and have completed only 48 or so quests. There 100+ quests in the game if I remember correctly.

Another vote for it's a waste. I'm about to hit lvl 20 and I still have about 10 or 11 open side quests and I haven't even stepped foot into New Vegas yet.

Is there any way to tell which version of New Vegas you're running on the PC? I know Steam is supposed to keep it up to date, but I haven't been prompted for an update for a long time. I do have it set to automatically update Fallout, though.

First DLC Announced:

The first downloadable content for Fallout: New Vegas was just announced!

“Dead Money” will tell the tale of a deal gone bad. After teaming up with three fellow wastelanders, players will need to pull off an intense heist to find and recover the treasure of the Sierra Madre Casino.

If you’re looking for a sneak peek at Dead Money, we might have something In The ‘Works. For now, here’s the official release:

BETHESDA SOFTWORKS REVEALS DETAILS FOR FIRST FALLOUT®: NEW VEGAS™ DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT

‘Dead Money’ Available December 21st Exclusively on Xbox LIVE

November 17, 2010 (Rockville, MD) – Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax® Media company, today announced that Dead Money, the first downloadable content for Fallout®: New Vegas™, will be available exclusively on Xbox LIVE® for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft beginning December 21, 2010.

“We’re pleased to give fans a chance to expand their experience in Fallout: New Vegas this December with Dead Money,” said Pete Hines, VP of PR and Marketing for Bethesda Softworks. “The release of Dead Money illustrates our commitment to creating entertaining add-on content for players to enjoy in already massive games like Fallout: New Vegas.”

As the victim of a raw deal you must work alongside three other captured wastelanders to recover the legendary treasure of the Sierra Madre Casino. In Dead Money, your life hangs in the balance as you face new terrain, foes, and choices. It is up to you how you play your cards in the quest to survive.

Fallout: New Vegas, the follow-up to Fallout 3 – the 2008 Game of the Year – brings this beloved franchise to a location only Fallout could do justice: Vegas. Fallout: New Vegas takes all the action, humor and post-apocalyptic grime and grit of this legendary series, and raises the stakes.

Reviews of Fallout: New Vegas have called the game as “an utterly essential purchase” (MSN UK) and as “addictively, rambunctiously fun” (Entertainment Weekly). The Associated Press awarded it a 4 out of 4 stars and said “Bottom Line: It’s a Blast”, while GameSpy gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars and called Fallout: New Vegas “one of the best games of the year.”

Published by Bethesda Softworks and developed at Obsidian Entertainment, Dead Money, has not yet been rated by the ESRB. It will be available for 800 Microsoft points.

No way in hell am I buying any DLC any time soon. This game is way too damn buggy. I'll just wait until the eventual GOTY edition, and hopefully they will have everything ironed out by then.

Yeah, that's actually what I ended up doing with Fallout 3 - sold my original copy after playing 120+ hours for about $10 less than I paid, and bought the GOTY edition after it had been out a few months for like $30...and ended up selling it for more than that.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

why did they create a separate category of quests called notes quest?
what is different between a note quest and a normal quest?
note quests are annoying to keep track off. There doesn't seem to be a way to show the ones you haven't completed.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

I wondered about that, too. I could understand if the regular quest list was exclusive to major ones, but they included plenty of short and sweet sidequests in the main quest list too. So why not the others?

I reached Level 30 at the 80th hour.

I guess I should finish the game and get some achievements now.

I finished the game. I really like how the endings are pretty thorough.

The more I think about the ending the more I'm disappointed. The game was a lot of fun but the story lacked the personal element. It really was just a revenge story that you finish real quick then with a "oh by the way, can you take over Vegas for us, please?" tacked on. I suppose I'm kinda bitter because the experience is over but meh.

I was a little underwhelmed with the game as a whole too especially compared to Fallout 3. Plus I was angry that the game still had all of the problems with freezing up that Fallout 3 did plus numerous other bugs. On top of it, I guess I prefer the Brotherhood of Steel/Enclave to the NCR and Caesars Legion.

Had a life saving glitch today.

In Dead Wind Cavern the Legendary Deathclaw got stuck in the rocks so I was just standing out of his reach shooting him with my sniper rifle:lol:

Even with the glitches, this is still a great game.

It's weird that there are more terrain glitches, but yeah, it's still a lot of fun.

I haven't been able to bring myself to finish the game yet, although I'm pretty sure I'm close.

Finished the game last night. NV is the real Fallout 3. Obsidian gets what Fallout is- I have no complaints about the plot, writing, or setting. The game mechanics are a bit eh, but that's Bethesda's doing, not Obsidian- and I appreciate the fact that Obsidian dialed down the perks and skill books to make it impossible to max out all skills.
