Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC
Finished up my first playthrough tonight. Loved the game, but it had nowhere near the impact the end of the first one did on me.

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC
second playthrough almost done.....everyone loyal this time...will finish tomorrow...just in time to go back and finish Darksiders so I can get ready for Bioshock....
I am just going to say this right now, not even close.... the best power in the game is Reave...
"The power employs mass effect fields to biotically attack the target's nervous or synthetic systems and disable any health regeneration. Restores health and gives a temporary health bonus when the power is used against organics. Reave also does double damage to armor and barriers."
I did not even think to use it at first, but at another board everyone says this is needed to play the highest difficulty setting, and that it actually makes the game easy. They were not kidding. Cool down time is set at 6 second for Shepard, so with all your upgrades it recharges almost as soon as your old attack is done. The area attack version shreds everything in a 9 foot radius for 160 points of dmg..and that is before all the biotic upgrades and personal upgrades. If they have armor or barriers they are toast..it is freaky how fast they fall.
End result? You throw this bad boy out and then stay in cover as it kills them in 4 seconds. It also heals you up and gives you a temp health boost....I am not joking reave rules...

what class do you need to play to get this skill?
Reave is a biotic power in Mass Effect 2. It is Samara's unique ability and is unlocked solely through completion of her loyalty mission. Once unlocked, Commander Shepard is then capable of purchasing a research upgrade that will enable usage of this power. Basically it is warp (slightly weaker)..with the added benefit of health regeneration and basically doubling your hit points while you are using it. But against armor and barriers it does WAY more dmg than warp..

I'm 38 hours in now. Just got the Assassin recruited. About to continue onto the main story after exploring a few more planets.
I figure I'll finish it this weekend to get ready for Bioshock 2, and then replay as a paragon sometime later on when DLC comes out.

If they sound like they're ready to jump your bones, just hit the Omega 4 Relay.

In case anyone was caring, it doesn't seem like a Level 30 character brought any more over than a lower level character for playthrough 2. Didn't even get a Par/Ren bonus like I did with my ME1 import
Just started my Insane run and it'll definitely be harder. One thing I forgot to do was assign Jacob and Miranda's points before we went to Freedom's Progress, so they weren't doing shit to the Heavy Mech at the end. It was a real pain in the ass and I'm actually scared about parts in the game where I have to face those when they're not alone - especially with another Heavy Mech!
I plan to do the minimum possible to run through this game, that includes loyalties unless I just need someone's extra power.

Haven't finished the game yet, I'm about 25 hours in, but... this game continues to amaze me in so many ways, big and small. What a step forward for the medium.

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC
I just finished this and am mopping up the side missions. I didn't play the first one. Overall, I enjoyed it but I'm kind of disappointed.
Things that I liked: I liked the settings and enjoyed the story. Overall the game mechanics were good. The combat was a bit stale near the end, but to be fair I played on easy because my computer is just below the min specs and combat is a little too choppy to be playable at a challenging level.
Thins I didn't like: The complete lack of character interaction depth. I'm shocked that this came from the same company that made KOTOR. I know it's supposed to be more action and less RPG than KOTOR, but I kept finding myself wanting to have more interactions with the characters and 9 out of 10 times they just repeated the same old lines. Most characters get little development outside of their recruit/loyalty missions.
For example, when you beat the game all you get is a line or two from each crew member before the same old dialog options. But even that is better than what happens off the ship, where so far nobody as even acknowledged the final mission. OK, so maybe it's a secret, but I figured at least the General back on the Citadel would have some new dialog, but nope, nada. And you would think bringing my Geth companion on the Citadel would get some type of response, but again, nothing.
There were also some minor issues, like the bypass mini-game being unnecessarily difficult because of poor mouse response and the spacebar being used for sprint/cover/activate and advanced dialog/select. The later was particularly annoying because it was very easy to select the wrong response when trying to advance through previously heard dialog.

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC
I am loving this game! I finished the first game a few weeks ago which I had since the game came out. so the fact that I just got this game and already put 14 hours into says something considering I really enjoyed the first one, but it never hooked me, which is way It took me such a long time playing it alittle here and there.
This one is just awesome. I love the story, its better told and I just LOVE the characters that are joining your team. They are all very cool. Jake is a pretty awesome character as is the assassin and Miranda, oh and Kelly on your ship really like the flirty dialogue between her and shepard.. Its amazing how much Miranda looks like Yvonne Strahovski. The voice acting is excellent, side missions are more interesting as are the locales.
I love this game. I just wish there wasnt the loading when your on the ship when you go to the different floors.

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC
Played through a second time, with the intention of getting the "Shepherd dead" ending. Didn't happen.
So now I have one character with the ideal ending I wanted, and one character with the near complete opposite.

Finally got my copy tonight so I can try and catch up with everyone that already beat it. Guy at Gamestop was nice enough to give me the preorder armor code even though I am way past the release date. Guess they have a ton of those cards lying around.
