I suppose. Still, boo, Bioware.

You see the planet from orbit, hit Y to "Start Scanning", and you move a cursor around the surface of the planet looking for concentrated deposits that your scanner finds. Then you launch a probe to retrieve what you found. You buy probes from Fuel Depots in the system.

So, now we're on the new Galaxy Map. I love it. I would like to not have to buy fuel for local travel, but it's not a big deal. It really makes me feel more connected to the universe having to use the Mass Relays the way The Codex describes them. It feels very Star Control II to me.

In ME1 you just push whatever button it tells you to survey and it does it. Some planets are just out there and you can't do anything with.

Just FYI, its never out of warranty if you have red ring issues. MS will always fix it free for that problem. Unless you cracked the case open...

The warranty on red ring issues only lasts 3 years. If it's past that they charge $99 to fix it I'm pretty sure.

Has anyone had any trouble importing your saved game file from ME1? I tried to do this, but the game did not even see that I had save files on my hard drive from ME1. My friend has the same issue.

Did you finish the game? That's the only issue I've run into, as one of my characters was being played but I never completed the game and that profile didn't show up as an option.

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC

One change I don't like is reloading. Reloading has no basis in the lore, or the universe of what was presented in the first game. It defies any and all conventions of logic: gun overheats and you replace the thermal cooling "clip"? Apparently heat doesn't disipate because you can shoot once, and 30 minutes later still need to replace the clip? .

It makes ZERO sense. Why not just call it ammo? Completely backwards logic. Did people not understand the cooling from #1?

It's as if the bean-counters at EA presented Bioware with a thoroughly researched chart showing how gamers like to reload....

Also, I really, really don't like the new health system - it's dumb and annoying.
I also don't like not getting experience for kills...

Yes I finished the game, I have all my original save files still. Maybe after I beat the game it didn't save that last part?

Really don't like reading how much they stripped out the RPG parts. I know they had issues with the menus, but now it seems like it is a pure shooter with very little RPG about it.

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC

There is very little RPG as far as stat management goes so far. Though it's gotta change as I'm level 8 and have about 1/3 of my skills maxed out, including a fully maxed Adrenaline Rush.

But there's still plenty of "RP" in the RPG since you're still interacting with NPCs and the universe as a whole.

Yeah, I'm having some kind of issue as well. It shows two save files, one MaleShep at Level 47, which I can choose to import, and one FemShep at Level 48, which shows up, but won't let me select it....

They seemed to go out of their way to explain why you didn't need ammo in the first game, and still came up with a pretty elegant way to limit your fire (overheating)... and then they throw that all away in the sequel?
I don't like the thermal clips either. The original system was fine, IMO.

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC

I played some more. Landed on Omega, and recruited the scientist. What a riot he is

The fighting is alot more intense. I am a solider, just like the first game, but it's no longer shoot and in 15 seconds, all the enemies are dead and you move on. You need to plan for the fights, take cover, use special skills, etc. It's very cool.

I am a bit confused about the interrupt system. I have been seeing both paragon and renegade interrupts, but never at the same time. Do they ever appear at the same time or no? I keep using them every time they appear, the curiousity is cramping my evil bitch's style

Oh and I was rolling when
Spoiler:
I made the bartender drink the poisoned drink, and killed the Batarians after they let Daniel go. "You killed them!! In cold blood!!"

Great game so far. I hope it lasts awhile.

I agree. The more I think about it, the less I like it.

Sometimes, after a Renegade option comes up you can let it pass and a Paragon option will then come up. Not all the time, but sometimes.

Does it work the other way, too, or am I just missing the renegade prompts and seeing the paragons?

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC

Why hasn't there been a single new post for more than a week on Bioware's ME2 boards?

Have they just locked the whole thing down to keep from having to delete all the negative comments about DLC and stuff.

Speaking of which, the DLC armor is way cool, but also sucks ass in that you can't remove your helmet - so when your in conversation, you can't see your character's face.

Not really a big loss as my Shepard seems to have issues with looking people in the eye. He always seems to be looking off to the side.

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC

I could not import my character from Mass Effect as well. Apparently if your original game was saved on another hard drive, you are out of luck. If, like me, you upgraded to a 120 gb, even with the transfer kit there is some hidden file that is not transferred. This pissed me off to no end, but I am over it and loving the game so far. It looks gorgeous by the way.

Oh, if you happen to have a save file right before the last boss on Mass Effect 1, you could beat him real quick, and then get the transfer.

It's a lot more awkward with a helmet on - at least it is for my [female] character.

Nope.

My completed game-save from 2007 was initially on my 20gig hard-drive, which I transferred to a new 120gig drive just 6 months ago and my character imported just fine.

This must not be across the board, as this is my situation and my character transferred no problem.

Try reloading your last save in ME1, kill Saren again, talk to the council, let the game auto-save (shouldn't take more than 5 minutes) and see if the save will work after doing that.
