Well, I watched The Natural on regular DVD last night using the PS3 and I was impressed. Watching it on my 46" Samsung 120hz LCD it looked pretty great at times. Some of the darker scenes looked a little washed out (like they normally did) but just about everythting else looked, at times, almost 3 dimensional. I need to see how the same disc looks played on my stand alone Sony BD player.

Yes, Criterion does use a PS3 as their BD player.

OT, but whatever happened to The Natural, anyway? Wasn't it supposed to be released a couple of years ago, then canceled for some reason?

On the topic of upconverted DVDs being good enough, I typically feel that way when watching many movies, but when I can do a comparison between the DVD and BD version and can actually switch them back and forth it is sometimes pretty shocking how much better the BD is. I think viewing distance is important though. Many times we sit too far back and lose much of the extra resolution we are paying for on BD.

Hey guys, I need to replace my 40gb PS3, produced in September 2007. Do you know which one to get?
I think this one is for the newer produced 40 gb PS3 but I can't find one for September 2007:

Yeah, distance is huge. I was just at BestBuy the other day and they had a TV showing a split-screen comparing an SDdvd (not upconverted) to a Bluray of the same thing, and being about 30 feet away, they looked identical, it wasn't until I got about 15 feet from the tv that I noticed some difference and about 7 feet until I noticed a huge difference.

If I understand the question (which I kind of doubt), the PS3 isn't terribly SKU-sensitive. The only major variations are the original 20 and 60Gb models (w/ hardware BC) and the first 80Gb model (w/ software BC). After that, they are all pretty much the same and are all very reliable.

I just got a set of Real Triggers in the mail today, and I must say, they 'effin rock. If anyone has any beef with the PS triggers, these make up for it in spades. Super comfy and no slippage.
I've had them in my wishlist for ages to use as a filler item for free shipping and finally got a chance to order them the other day. Coupled with my FPS Freak analog sticks the PS controller is almost functional now.
If only there were an easy fix for the left analog placement.

Ok, you guys talked me into it. $4.49 and I'll have them tomorrow or Monday. God, I love Amazon Prime + ECA.

so, one pack of those real triggers is for one controller or are there enough for, at least, another controller.
either way, I'll probably pick some of these up. the hard plastic of the buttons is too slippery....

No, it's for one controller, unfortunately. At least you don't have to buy them with that stupid armor thing for $10 now.

Only problem I have with the real triggers is that they're really ugly from the bottom, since there's just a gaping hole. They also snap off and go flying if you drop your controller... I lost one under the couch for about a week because of this...

Picked up BlazBlue the other day. Just curious though ... does anyone know why this game is so hard to come by (in Canada)? It seems like only EB/Gamestop and some of the independent game retailers are carrying it, and even then, in very limited numbers.
Does EB/Gamestop have exclusive rights to distributing this game up here?

Just ordered a set of Real Triggers from Amazon as well. Thanks for the heads up! It's a super great deal for me since they are only $5, and there's a special offer where you get $5 worth of mp3s from the Amazon music store. (I buy music there all the time - in fact, I might go order another set of triggers since they are essentially free)

My triggers came today (often that Prime stuff comes the next day if I order it early enough). Looking forward to trying them with Moptorstorm Pacific Rim tonight.
