Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
I agree with Slider.
I'm trying to get excited about the Starhawk previews yet it just seems so completely different. Not to sound simple but the game seems so complicated. Building and dropping bases, etc. I like how straightforward the original Warhawk is. I've always been that kind of gamer; the most complicated RPG I ever played was Final Fantasy II. It took a lot for me to step into a FPS like BFBC2 (actually, all it took was you guys being fun to play with in Warhawk) and I'm just not convinced Starhawk is a day-one purchase for me.
Do wonder what it would take for us to all get together for Warhawk again, though. Even for a one-time special event of like 16 of us.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
My preference would have been a straight up sequel with some balancing, destructibility and more customization options, but I think Starhawk will feel more familiar to Warhawk than it looks at face value:
- Big varied environments
- Vehicles
- Fast paced but tactical (as opposed to fast paced and twitchy)
- Holing up in structures (only now you pick them and they are destructible)
- Tons of potential for douche
But I have some concerns too:
- The shooting is more "over the shoulder" instead of true 3rd person, which I thought gave it a unique feel
- They seem to have taken away some of the air to ground capability (and vice versa)
- I haven't seen any indication of how the learning curve through the vehicles will work
- I haven't seen some of the coolest weapons/items in Warhawk (wrench, biofield, balls, lightning, jetpacks)
I think the general feel is going to be somewhere between Warhawk and Red Faction: Guerrilla, and while that doesn't sound bad at all at face value, it could be.
It's a day-one for me no doubt. As the sequel to my favorite game of all time, it has to be.

I'm AFPS3 this week. I'd love if you guys managed to get a game going this week but I'm just not around to host. I'll be back in PGH on Saturday. I'm hoping to rally the troops for an epic festival of douchebaggery next Tuesday.

Okay, August 9, then. We get a big bad company of cohorts together and rumble the joint.
Clear your calendars.
Buy your pals pawn shop copies.
We'll make it happen.
August 9 is Judgment Day, er, Judgment Night. Warhawk. Warhawk Night. Whatever, just be there.

A few things here I hadn't seen. Dropping a building on a Warhawk.

And an IGN interview with Dylan Jobe...LOL at his reaction to the IGN bimbo.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
Tonight's Warhawk mayhem needs more players. Here's what I've got, according to the boards / gaming conversations:
Confirmed:
- dogmatica
- jdpatri
- cnicholls44
- cruzness
- excom101
- shumway
- John_Slider
- ivelostr2
- nicholls82
Nine total, which is awesome. I think we had between 5-8 at the same time and it was a lot of fun. The time really flew.

Pretty sure DieCast sold his copy. I asked him about it and I believe that was his reply. I'm still a maybe. Depends on the wifey.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
I would come out, but I just found out from the wife that my brother-in-law stole my copy the other day. I gotta get her to stop lending my games to him, or at least ask me if I'm playing it before he takes it. Maybe next week.
