Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
She's got some problem called "club thumbs" where they are really flat and caveman huge. They are actually pretty gross looking. Like having a fat, nasty long toe on your hand.
As far as the Xbox goes, I was mainly just looking for Netflix use with it since it would pain me to play on a 30" TV when I have a 67" downstairs.
Looks like the Roku may still be the easiest thing. Hopefully they will add a lot of the features Live added to the Roku interface. I don't really want to have to deal with a different gold account and moving harddrives around.
Thanks for the info guys.

I use the same gold account with both my 360s and I have no problems with just taking the MU from console to console. Why would this be an issue?

When you say MU, do you mean the hard drive attached to the side?
If so, it just seems like a minor pain in the ass every time the wife and I want to watch something.

MU = Memory Unit.
I do that as well between two xboxs. I keep my profile on the memory card. Use it connected to my 360 and it logs me in and I play games just fine. I can also take it to a friends 360 and log myself in and play games.

Same here. I like that it is easy to take your profile with you on the 360.

Eh, either way, I wish they would separate them. I'd like to pull up the new add-ons menu and see DLC that isn't pushed off the front page one day later due to all the music trcks released every other day. It's minor, but I have seen DLC pop up for older games I have that I might be interested in that I wouldn't have seen any other way (or would have only heard of way down the line).

Yes but it comes with limitations. One you have to be at your console vs. at work on the net. Two, you can't queue up more than one song. If you choose to d/l a song via the RB disc it pops up a blade and you can't do anything until it's done.

They are game add-ons, so they do belong there. However there already is a special section on the dashboard that contains all the music titles. That should be enough.
Especially since viewing the songs in the Add-Ons section isn't useful at all. All you see is the song title, you can't see the artist info that way. I know it doesn't sound like a big deal, but I literally had this conversation yesterday with a co-worker who was bitching about it. I was sure he was wrong until I realized how he was finding the new songs whereas I was going from the "Downloads" section under my Rock Band 2 entry in my game library.

It doesn't matter which route you take, Add-ons, Downloads or the online marketplace, they all fail. With the first two you have to know the name of the song, not the artist. You can't sort alphabetical either like in the in-game marketplace. Once a track is no longer new and you want to find Tom Petty, for example, you have to scroll from A to T. Like I said, the downside to the online site is that song title or band name isn't a part of their search function.

It makes the "New Add-Ons" section completely useless, in my opinion.

Yeah, unless you look through the "most popular" menu, it would seem like Lips and Rock Band are the only games that get DLC. There has definitely been a few times that I've missed DLC I would have wanted due to this clutter of song-by-song DLC for these games. I'm sure this has to piss off the developers of these other games, as they're DLC keeps getting swept away by the music content.

The one thing I don't like about the Marketplace is trying to dig through all those individual track listings when searching for new DLC. I wish they just had a single tab for each games tracks and then if you want you can go to that menu and see what is new. Even with the recent changes the Xbox store is a pain in the ass to search through for content.

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
Instead of rummaging thru 60 pages of posts are there any tips, tricks, or other helpful encounters that one should know about when first setting up a 360?
I don't want to have to go back and redo something, or not know that there is a hidden feature or trick that would have been helpful.
Yes to answer your question ... I have turned to the dark side.

Also, enjoy your first month of Live for free and use that month to look for a cheap 12 month card. Then send out friend requests to those of us on here.
What games did you get?

The only game I got was RB2. (Are there any other games?
)The special edition was on sale last week for 89.99 at Target and BB price matched it when I was buying the Elite. So it was a good deal.Don't have the wifi yet so still waiting on the Live stuff. Hopefully will have soon. Hence my gamertag at the moment is ******. I went ahead and signed up online so I'm not sure what will link up when I get Live going.

So, the last dashboard update also reset some settings? Or does anyone know. Specifically, the downloading of stuff in your queue after your console turns off. I have a queue full of songs to download, started it up and watched it go a bit last night, then turned that shit off to play batman... just checked my queue, and it's still got a shitload of songs. Lame-o.

Can someone answer this question:
I have an older 360 - and was thinking about picking up the elite model with hdmi / 120G HD.
1) What do I have to do transfer my info from my (small) old hard drive to the larger one?
2) I know that MS no longer includes the HDMI cable with the new price drop - which is fine with me because I have tons of HDMI cables at home thanks to monoprice. However, does the elite model just use a regular HDMI cable - or do I need to buy a special cable that will attach to the 360 on one end and will be an HDMI on the other?

Otherwise, you need a specific Xbox transfer cable.
