I guess that explains it. That's right about the time my Gold membership expired. LOL!

Again, about how long does it take new game demos to go from Xbox Live Gold to Silver download status? Thanks for the info guys!

Xbox #2 just died. No video, only audio. I tried switching cables and tv's and same problem. Ohh well, thankfully I bought the Best Buy replacement program

My Xbox purchased Dec 2005 red ringed today. I had a feeling it was going to happen soon. Does Gamestop still take them on trade in? I have the 120 GB HD so I'll just get an arcade unit.

Man, Raiden Fighters Aces is an awesome compilation.

It's just amazing to see how awesome these classic games are emulated and how many amazing visual and gameplay options are given when a Japanese company is behind the programming as opposed to the complete lack of attention and care given to the classics on say, XBLA, when handled by that diarrhea abortion disaster of a company called Backbone/Digital Eclipse.

You'd think something like that they could at least do 50% off, no?

Cool. I picked this up really cheap awhile back and didn't want to pay 800 points to add on the extra characters. This is not too bad.

Backbone didn't completely shit the bed on some of their more recent stuff, but I know what you are saying. It has no where near the quality of the Japanese collections. I'm wondering if this one is from the same team that does the Sega Ages stuff in Japan and also does the emulation for some of the Virtual Console titles.

Same price at GameStop, and Best Buy here locally. I didn't see it at Target/Wal-Mart/K-mart last week though.

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest

I played Raiden Fighters for a few hours last night - yeah, it's pretty fucking awesome, especially for that price. The options are mind-boggling - I don't think I've seen a game that lets you tweak it's settings as much as this does - and I love them for it!

Seriously, this should be the new trend in gaming, letting people who paid good money for the game tweak and adjust it however the fuck they want.

Indeed, especially for emulated games. At the very least, all that I ask for is the option for at the least is unfiltered graphics with a pixel-by-pixel or aspect ratio correct (when pixel-by-pixel is not 4:3/3:4) resolution. I love that RFA also has so many options for 54 FPS play to accurately run the game at its proper speed (blend seems to be the smoothest option).

I hope Valcon picks up a nice niche success with RFA so that it entices a publisher to look into bringing over the Cave shmups (or at the very least Death Smiles) so I don't have to get a Japanese 360. Valcon even went the extra mile to have all the patches/add-ons released for RFA hard-coded on to the US disc before release. So good.

Rumor: Monkey Island Special Edition coming to 360
http://www.gamerbytes.com/2009/05/th..._island_co.php

Yes, it's been an awfully long time, but it appears that The Secret Of Monkey Island is coming back, and to the Xbox 360.

The German USK rating board has revealed that The Secret Of Monkey Island - Special Edition is on its way. This was the very original Monkey Island game, from all the way back in 1990. As for what makes it a Special Edition is currently unknown -- could they be re-doing the graphics? Could the game possibly have a voice cast?

The rating suggests that Activision might have some involvement in the project, but most likely this is simply Activision Europe rating the title for LucasArts, as they are the European publishing arm that LucasArts use. We can only assume this is an Xbox Live Arcade title, but there is a slim chance that this is a retail retelling of the original too.

Source: German USK Rating Board.
One would think this would be an XBLA title, unless it's the entire series on a retail disc. I wonder if they're really working on motion sensing tech and this title will work with it or if they'll do something stupidly simple like support USB mouse devices for input.

I hope the Monkey Island thing not only pans out, but leads to the other LucasArts stuff. Grim Fandango please. Thanks.

Same here. I'd love to see all of the Lucas Arts adventure games updated and released on XBLA with enhanced graphics. Or even disc based if it adds voices and contains multiple games at a decent price. Unrelated, but Willy Beamish would be awesome too

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest

Seeing the trailers for the new Lost Planet game have me really jazzed to play that game. I never played the first one, because I dl'ed the demo and it was multiplayer only, so like a rube I thought the whole game was only online.

I don't know how the game controls, but just visually? This game is hitting all of my buttons. I need to check the first game out. I'm sure I can get a copy for a song now.

Giantrobo LOVES this game. I enjoyed it, although I suck at shooters, so I only got two or three levels into it before I gave up. It's probably been about two years since I touched the game, so maybe I ought to give it another try -- I'm somewhat less of a putz with FPS/3PS than I used to be, so maybe I can actually play this game now.

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest

Well just playing around with the single player demo (that I overlooked originally) this is pretty much the perfect shooter game for me. It's 3rd person, not crazy difficult, and all the weapons feel really "good" so far. Colonies edition, here I come!
