Nintendo really made me a happy camper with their announcements. 2010 might be a long wait for some of these games, but unlike some of the haters I'll HAPPILY play another Mario and Metroid game this gen. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who could see the value of the Vitality Sensor. Sure it sounds stupid, but like I said before - I won't underestimate Nintendo again. I could definitely see where you could employ it with a game like COD or Dead Rising. Again, you have to find the right game for it but it can be done.

I like the form factor of the PSP Go.
I hate the price.
I hate that I can't buy games at retail. That really makes it pointless as the lifeblood of a system is the content you can put on it. I am way too stingy to pay full retail price for anything. Therefore, I can never see myself using the Go.
Best I could do (I think) is find deals on PSN cards, but I honestly don't know enough about those to know if that would suffice.

I wouldn't buy a PS3 if I had an X-box either (or vice versa). They are much more alike than they are different with each having a set of features that appeal to a certain audience.
For those who do have a PS3, I thought they had a very strong show. I'd put that lineup of exlusive games up against anybody's. For folks who don't have a PSP, I could see the Go being worthwhile, but I'm not sure why I'd buy one vs. an iPod Touch.
Nintendo got me interested enough to possibly move the Wii back in the living room. F'ing Metroid!!!!

I want a Go, but for $100 less than they're going to charge for it and with some sort of UMD support.

Touch has great handheld games for dirt cheap ($2-$10).
Go presumably has games that are better suited for home console for PSP MSRP ($20-$30)

Same, I'm really excited for this, and it pretty much came out of nowhere for me at least. I remember reading that Chair had obtained the rights to the Orson Scott Card book a while back, but then promptly forgot about that until the game announcement. I'd probably buy it @ $25 or $30, but $20 or less would be great.

I got the 20GB PS3 on ebay the first summer it was out for $320 or so - sale of old slim PS2 for $80 = $240 spent.
It sees plenty of use for Blu-ray, and for the occasional PS2 game (I still have more PS2/PS1 games than 360/Wii games combined). I've yet to play any games on it really except for Tekken 5: DR for the first year or so, but it was worth it for the PS2/BD combo functionality. Too bad they yanked BC. Stupid move IMO. When they say current PS2 owners are future PS3 owners, that might make sense if it had PS2 BC. But they don't any more, so it doesn't really make sense IMO.
You'd think they'd be trying to leverage that PS2 success more. I think pulling BC from the PS3 was shortsighted.

Isn't there still some screen issue with the latest PSP that came out?
Problem I see with Natal is that it'll be an add-on peripheral, it's seemingly bigger than I thought (I thought it was just that little camera under the tv but apparently at least currently it's much bigger), and I'm not sure how much we've really benefited with all the innovation of the Wii and DS. Maybe I'm alone in this, but the really good Wii games that necessitate the motion controls are few and far between... stuff like Wii Sports, Boom Blox, Wii Fit, sure, but otherwise my favorite wii games are basically updated franchises with some motion/sensor technology put in. And I love my DS, but I very rarely play incredible games that need the stylus... I'd say for most of the games, stylus support is either an afterthought or an annoyance. Now the point is to draw the non-traditional gamer, but the applications seem to be more tech demo-ey than really fun. Using my foot for an imaginary pedal, which is dependent on how far I push down seems really iffy. Even stuff like throwing a grenade in Halo, I'd think you'd get destroyed by people just using the controller, since you'd have to take a hand off your controller and your aim wouldn't be as good. And I wish I could trust Molyneux, but at this point, no way.
It'll be interesting in the next gen, I guess.

That's a bit harsh. I don't think there is a single hater in this thread. We're all going to buy them and love them. Some just feel it would be nice if Nintendo would reach beyond Mario, Samus & Link this generation. They have a dozen other IPs they could be working on and exposing to a whole new group of gamers.
I was actually excited to buy a Wii at launch, and I had huge expectations for it. Bowling wore off soon enough, Zelda was a slow-moving book to read with audible grunts from the characters, and Monkey Ball just plain ol' sucked. As we got more games for it, they were quickly moved to the shelf only to be forgotten. When a game like Carnival came out, I thought that would be great, but poor design ruined that one in a matter of a couple hours at best. I have over 25 games for the Wii that not only aren't played by my wife and I, my 4, 7, and 8 year old boys won't even touch 'em. Our A/V cable died right after Christmas. I immediately got another one and it's still in the box because no one has even asked to play the Wii in the last 6 months.
I want my family to play the Wii, but Nintendo just keeps releasing the same hum-drum games. Give us something new to play...really new, not a re-vamped Gamecube game. Like I said, they have my money. I don't want to be a hater, but Nintendo is making it hard not to be. The giggle-stick controller's newness has worn off, so now give us some quality games to play. I'm not the only one bitching about the Wii becoming a paperweight.
Sorry for the rant.

I'm assuming he was referring to me, and I guess I am a hater, but I really don't want to be. Nintendo has my money. Within the past couple years I bought 4 DS units (3 DS & 1 DSi) and a Wii, and close to 50 games for them combined. The problem is they aren't bringing anything new & worth-while to the table. Software sales slow? Shove more Mario down their throat!! And the games aren't anything that we haven't seen for every platform released by Nintendo. Mario Kart has been out for every system for the last 20 years and it's the same damn game every time.

I love my PSP and wish I had bought one sooner. My DS is great for puzzle/brain games but when I want to feel like I am playing a game on par with the Wii or PS2, I just have to throw a game into my PSP. Most games look that good to me.
Far as I know, there was some sort of ghosting issue with the PSP-2000...so it seems you can't get one that is perfect. But again, maybe ignorance is bliss. It's exactly the reason I have never looked or studied what edge enhancement is on dvds. They say once you know about it, you see it all the time. So I keep myself ignorant.

Games of the show comes down to God of War 3 and Uncharted 2. I think I will give the edge to God War 3 since the demo was so bad ass.

I suppose you could make the same argument for Uncharted 2, but it looks to me like Naughty Dog really stepped it up on that one. The first one looked pretty amazing too, but that was mind blowing. U2 might just be my first preorder ever.
Kudos to both for being live demos rather than teaser videos. That's one thing I give Sony a lot of credit for in their show. They showed games...being played in real time. Imagine that!

I also thought that track building demo for ModNation Racers was pretty impressive. I just need to see whether the car physics are on-par with Mario Kart (the current gold standard).
I'd imagine folks will recreate every Mario Kart track and every Wipeout track at a minimum.

I keep coming back to Super Mario Galaxy 2 for the game of show. It's a sequel to a GOTY contender/winner(depending on who you ask). Not to mention the first time since the NES that we have gotten 2 true Mario games on one system. That's exciting and truly out of left field.
Unfortunately it does suffer from the MOTS (more of the same) syndrome like God of War.

Strange...
LOS ANGELES – Electronic Arts has been playing games with attendees of the nation's biggest video-game trade show.
The game publisher hired a group of nearly 20 people to stand outside the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles on Wednesday and appear to protest the upcoming EA game "Dante's Inferno." EA spokeswoman Holly Rockwood says the stunt was arranged by a viral marketing agency hired by EA.
The group claimed to be protesting the third-person action game — loosely based on Dante Aligheri's poem "Divine Comedy" — because they said the game glorified eternal damnation.
The fake religious protesters passed out pamphlets and held up picket signs with messages such as "Hell is not a Video Game" and "Trade in Your PlayStation for a PrayStation."

That's actually pretty smart. Fake protests will probably get you some press and get some real religious wack jobs out there against it. And we all now that when the religious right protests something, sales usually go up more than they would have if they had just kept quiet.

If I were to give game of show to a promo video, it would without question be Metroid...but I'm total fanboy for Metroid.
