Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

The problem I see with the band challenges is that the overwhelming majority of members here are 360s.

Owners of other consoles would not have a fair challenge here either.

Just sayin'.

Console choice isn't ascribed. Not everyone participates in every challenge anyway.

I'm just sayin' that *I* would find more interest in a multiplayer challenge.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

We PS3ers certainly won't win (I think if we assembled our entire population we could only form about two bands), but I'm just fine with just competing. I don't really think its about winning or being fair. It's just about doing something different. It's not fair that no matter what I do I can't strum repetitive chart sequences without screwing up... but I've accepted my shortcomings. Does that really apply? Sure. Why not.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

You could pair up members here and form bands and combine posted scores. But then you lose all the band bonuses youd get by actually playing together. And thats not really multi-playing.

To make things fair across the board for everyone you could start a handicap league of sorts.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

So, now that Harmonix has finally exhausted all the albums that were announced, does anyone want to waste a Thursday revisiting the topic?

Realistically* what FULL (non Greatest Hits) Albums do you still want to see in Rock Band?

*Personally I'd love for all my favorite bands, like Dream Theater, to have full albums, but realistically I don't see it happening. Mention albums that actually might have a shot at coming to the platform.

Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes
Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime
Cake - Fashion Nugget
The Who - Tommy
Pearl Jam - Vs.

Dookie seems like the perfect fit for Rock Band. Short songs that we all know.

I'll put in my regularly scheduled pitch for Dream Theater - Images and Words.

I would much rather have Comfort Eagle than Fashion Nugget.

I would also rather have Kerplunk by Green Day rather than Dookie. But that is purely for the My Generation cover alone.

Dokken - Breaking the Chains, Tooth and Nail, Under Lock and Key, Back for the Attack
Cinderella - Night Songs, Long Cold Winter
Tesla - Mechanical Resonance, The Great Radio Controversy
Whitesnake - Slide It In, Whitesnake

They dont have to pick them all, but any of them will do just nicely

Def Leppard - Pyromania
Extreme - Pornograffitti

I heard They Might Be Giants - I Palindrome I on XM and thought it would be a fun song to play in Rock Band, so maybe a pack from them as well

Out of all the albums that have a realistic chance of making it into Rock Band, Dookie is probably the only one I'd buy in its entirety.

challenging- green day - dookie
nightmare - mastodon - crack the skye
impossible - battles - mirrored

Unfortunately he appears to be in bed with the Guitar Hero franchise (like Hendrix), so don't expect this one or any others of his in RB.....

My choices are:
Pearl Jam - Vs. (I expect this one and all the others to be out over the next 2 years as each album is reissued)
GNR - Appetite For Destruction
Iron Maiden - The Number Of The Beast
Alice In Chains - Facelift
Soundgarden - Superunknown (I'd rather have Badmotorfinger, but considering Spoonman is already in RB2 and Black Hole Sun was in RB1, seems a more likely to happen situation)

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

The DLC Post is mostly back up and operational. I had to re-write the entire program from scratch, so I may run into little snags here and there.

Everything should be up to date for now (except for tiers on "Standing in the Shower... Thinking".

Battles would be a pure mindfuck. You can go ahead and play your Battles. I'll keep my sanity. Thank you.

I'm going to amend my earlier suggestion.

Dream Theater - Images and Words
Huey Lewis and the News - self titled (most would probably cry "Fore!" "Sports!" but their first CD, I think, would be a lot more fun to play in its entirety. Going through the rest of the catalog would require a compilation of hits.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Soundgarden - Superunknown
Pearl Jam - Vs. & Vitalogy
STP - Purple
Alice In Chains - Sap & Jar of Flies
Oasis - What's the Story Morning Glory
Queens of the Stone Age - I don't care, just give me one or all of them.

And ones that I'd personally love but I'll never probably see...
Everclear - Sparkle and Fade
Interpol - Antics

Great call on Sparkle and Fade. You know I was just listening to it the other day and thinking it would make the perfect Rock Band full album release. It’s got all the ingredients: Every song is great, several radio hits, would be a blast to play on every instrument. Plus, as I understand it Art needs cash after 3 divorces and filing for bankruptcy. You’d think he’d jump at the chance for some extra revenue seeing as their last few albums have tanked. I’m frankly shocked we haven’t seen any Everclear in either RB or GH.

I’d round out my top 5 most wanted full album DLC with:

Def Leppard – Pyromania
Queensryche – Empire
GnR – Appetite
Sugar – Copper Blue (naturally)

With the exception of Vampire Weekend, I would buy all of these. Battles would be incredibly difficult though.

As for some others I'd like to see (though all are very unlikely)...

Television - Marquee Moon
My Morning Jacket - It Still Moves
The Hold Steady - Boys & Girls in America
Built to Spill - Keep It Like a Secret
Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West
