Woot, finally Nothing's Shocking!
Best DLC since the Classic Rock pack and the best album since...maybe the best album they have released actually. I don't think this one has any weak songs on it.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
Same here. I'm sure there are some JA fans out there, but this seems like a horrible choice for DLC (to me). How many people really know these songs, and how many are willing to shell out the cash for them? Let's save the full-album releases for bands/albums that have alot of well-known tracks, like they did with Rush (and I'm not even a big Rush fan, but I bought it all). I'm a big Stevie Ray fan, but even I had a tough time grabbing the entire album (but I did, lol).
Frankly, I'd like to see them move away from this album format, unless they're going to put out an artist's greatest hits. That's basically all I've bought to date anyway. The Colour and the Shape is a great album, but I only bought the hits from it because I don't believe the rest of it would be fun to play at a party with others. They really should have picked singles from across the entire Foo Fighters catalog.
I love Harmonix's devotion to DLC and RB as a platform, but most of these album releases make it seem like they're losing sight of RB as a game to be enjoyed by a group. I'm glad they're putting out songs that are a bit more "obscure" since I occasionally benefit from them (Against Me!, for example), but it'd be nice if they threw in at least 1-2 crowd-pleasers each week like "Don't Stop Believing" a few weeks back. Anyway, rant over!

That's the point I was trying to make, give us stuff that almost everyone heard of & can enjoy, even if it is one of the three songs per week. The albums that I listed are popular from beginning to end, and I think they would be great party packs. I do, however, feel that the greatest hits packs are the way to go.

This week is one of the few album releases that doesn't really qualify (along with GnR) but with most of the albums they've released, you could pull a great 3-5 pack of hits/recognizable songs. And since it's probably cheaper for them to do non-greatest hits albums, I think it satisfies fans of the bands as well as more casual fans and players. I bet if they saw a huge benefit (for them) to do greatest hits albums or full greatest hits packs, they'd have released more than two. And one of those was a make-up for an unavailable album.

Only one recognizable song (Jane Says) and that song will be a horribly boring chart. One riff over and over and over and...

But you are missing a great song if you pass over Had A Dad. Best song on the album in my opinion. I always liked Standing In The Shower...Thinking because I always thought it was funny. I guess I got the lines wrong when listening to it in high school (according to the lyrics printed in the cd). I always thought they said "the water hits my dick and I'm pissing on myself" (lyrics say "neck") and "the water is a-fucking hot" (but lyrics say "piping"). I like my version better.
I won't probably buy the whole album but pick and choose a few. Had A Dad is a must buy and will likely pick up Ocean Size (that one sounds like it would be fun on both the drums & guitar). Summertime Rolls is a nice moody song.
But why the hell did they even include Thank You Boys? It a 30 second throw-away track. I know they want to be complete but that seems like a waste of space.
I have a feeling the vocals on this album are going to be tough as hell.
I'm gonna have to listen to my album this weekend to decide for certain. It's not one I go to very often but Nothing's Shocking is way better than Ritual in my opinion.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
A couple updates for the thread:
1) The "One Way or Another" challenge ends tonight. So get those scores in if you're interested! I'll have the new challenge up a little later today (probably another instrument specific one).
2) The DLC post is pretty much complete now. I put everything except for the current week stuff in spoiler tags so that the post wouldn't be a mile long. Also added in Packs, Albums, and Upcoming in their own separate frames.
If there's any other info anyone would like to see added to the DLC post (or other sorting options), let me know and I'll see what i can do. Searching will probably come later down the road once I've messed with ASP.Net a little bit.

Well, the new DLC might not be updated tomorrow.
I had the code and database set up on my work laptop (the only computer working around here right now), and the hard drive took a dive this morning.
I'm going to try to re-create the program overnight, but it might not get done right away. If I can't do it, I'll just throw the links up in a post.

We just tried last week's challenge tonight for fun. We did X Guitar and M Vocals, and many shouts of "Okay Stop singing!!!" could be heard from our living room. Our 4th try:

I forgot about 'Standing in the Shower Thinking" I actually hate that song and deleted it from my iTunes library, LOL. I also forgot about Moving Pictures which is def the best album released so far IMO.
Still looking forward to Nothing's Shocking, solid album with lots of great playing.
