I object to that. Battery and Painkiller are amazing songs! Visions is an acquired taste.

I still haven't played last weeks DLC that I bought. Looks like I'm not a real fan anymore either.

If I played drums more, I'd probably agree.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I usually play DLC the day it hits, after that it's a crap shoot. Unless it's a song that I LOVE playing, a la Sex Type Thing, I usually just catch it in a random list to see it again.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I finally got the video of our competition a couple weeks ago.

I present to you, Intense Flavor @ Otronicon '09!

Vocals: Shagrath
Guitar: Kijdhefgi
Bass: Phil (from work)
Drums: Andy (from work)

Spoiler:

Yes, that was me pausing at the beginning. They had the M.I.C. and the lock came off when I put it back in the stand.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I've been buying too much DLC lately...and I haven't been playing it because other games (LittleBIGPlanet and Bioshock) have my attention.

When Ten comes out, I'll dive back in...but meanwhile, I can't help looking week to week at what's coming out, and I always end up buying something. At this very moment, Steve Miller is mocking me.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

But ideally, you'd want *ALL* DLC to be stuff that you like, right? Just because it comes out next week doesn't mean you have to buy it next week. You can buy it after you finish up Bioshock & LBP (although it never reall ends).

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Everybody approaches this differently. Some buy everything. Some use online collection management / wishlists. Some use custom tracking methods.

But there is already so much content coming out that if you don't buy it or actively keep track that it came out, it is all to easy to forget about it. This is the same discussion we had at the end of the last thread about marketplace searching and the short-comings of the Music Store (albeit far and away the best current on-console solution for shopping/browsing).

Not everyone eats, breathes, sleeps, and shits this like many of us do.

Completely agreed. But what chess said was the equivalent of "I hope this game sucks, so I don't feel tempted to pick it up." Why anyone would wish for a month of crappy DLC is kind of strange. The only reasoning I could see is that if someone was hit hard by this economic struggle and lost their job or something, and couldn't afford any DLC. Maybe this person has some MSP already purchased, so they can spend those freely without dipping into savings or whatnot. They don't want to be tempted by something else in February, and not have enough for Ten in early March.

That's all I've got.

It was the same problem as last year. The place was so loud and the sensitivity was way up on the mic. They had no fail on (which I feel killed the competition), but people that tried Expert almost always dipped into the red.

I was actually appalled by my performance (percentage-wise)! We all met up at work to practice for a couple hours beforehand and in narrowing down songs, we must've played Drain You at least 8 times or so. I never got under 100% on Expert, even when I was laying on the ground.

EDIT: Changed to correct song because I'm an idiot.

Did you get to pick the song? Why move from In Bloom in practice to Drain You for the competition?

Fuck, that's what I meant! I'm not a big Nirvana fan at all, but we ended up picking that song due to the fact that it should be fairly well-known and the chart was repetitive enough that both the guitarist and bassist could play it with their eyes closed, for the most part. Also, when I entered, they said there was a 5 minute stage limit, so we tried to pick something under that, so as not to get the plug pulled on us mid-song. But then, the first band that went up played GGaHT, so I knew that rule was bullshit.

I will edit.

That's weird. It's not playing on my end either, but obviously pinata watched it to see my horrible percentage. I'll have to look into it today and see if I can't figure out what the problem is.

I'll re-upload it a little later today when I boot up my laptop. See if that fixes anything.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I'm sorry...watching a Rock Band competition is like watching a karaoke competion. I know that millions of people love "American Idol", but I'd rather see a real artist take the stage over someone who is singing/playing to a track.

And I'm a huge fan of the game.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Are there any sites like the old dlcstats.com? Looks like I Stand Alone has outsold everything else released this year if you go by the way they used to get their data.
