Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Picked up the GOW collection and ICO/SOTC with the gamer magazine for $35 + tax last night at Best Buy. Asked the girl beforehand if it was OK to use the coupon twice and she didn’t mind as long as I bought the magazine. Ended up being a pretty great deal with the sale going on.

I also jumped on the ICO & GOW deal. Had a bit of trouble with the check out guy. He didn't want to scan the coupon twice (rules rules rules) but I asked him if he would just ask a manager and they didn't care. Got both games, had to buy the magazine, and used a $25 gift card that I had. Walked out with both games for $12! Now all I have to do is find the time to play them.

Target has their DJ/Guitar Hero games on sale for $9.99 this week. I picked up DJ Hero 2 for $9.99.

Yep, next week. 10/16 - 10/22

Hopefully Amazon and Best Buy do some kind of match as well.

Just wanted to say thanks for the post. I picked up a copy of DJ Hero 2 (game only) for 10 bucks today. Great deal.

The games are $9.99, the bundles are $19.99 (not the full band bundles though, just the guitar/turntable bundles)

While you're there and since we're talking about Target clearance items, I picked the Duracell 360 charging station with two rechargeable battery packs up the other day for $9.98 (75% off). It's kind of cool and a tidy way to keep your 360 controllers together.

I think all the Targets in my area have already clearanced out all of the "Hero" games months ago (pretty sure I picked up both GH:WoR and DH2 for 9.98 a while ago). There's still some bundles left, but I don't need anymore plastic instruments.

Not. Actually. Correct. The games are $9.99. The DJ Hero 2 bundle is $19.99. The Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock guitar bundle is on sale for $49.99. I went there and scanned it just to be sure. I'm disappointed.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Yeah, I needed a 360 one. There are signs up at Target. The games are $20 off, making them $10 each. The bundles are $30 off, but the difference in their starting prices explains why the DJ Hero 2 bundle is so much less than the GH WoR one.

I have a 360 WOR guitar I have used exactly one time I would sell you. I just started a PS3 DLC group, so I am trying to whittle down my 360 instruments (I am down to just 3 guitars and 1 drumset now that I sold my beatles le bundle). I bought it at Toys R Us w/ that $15 coupon ($22 after tax). I'd sell it to you for $20 + shipping. Let me if you are interested.

Shit, sorry guys. I guess they had the band bundles under another $19.99 white tag that was used for the Hero bundles.

The Toys R Us Buy 2 Get 1 free sale is going on this week.

Not sure there are 3 games out I want right now. Any chance I could take advantage of the deal and then return one of the unopened games for Battlefield 3 when that comes out?

In previous years, you could buy three games and one would ring up as free and the other two would ring up regular price. Last year they changed their system and the register now rang up each item at the 33% off discounted price. Under the old way, you could return a full priced game for another (just not the free one); last year it was changed so that you could only return it for $40 in store credit. Assuming no other changes, you won't be able to use any games as a placeholder any more.
Kmart coupon train deals tend to be better than Buy 2, Get 1 Free anyway, if what you want is upcoming new releases.

Technically you can still do it, you'll just lose $20 of the $60 you initially save. Could likely get customer service to agree to make it an even swap as well.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Does anyone know if Toys R Us "runs out" of games online during this deal every year (as in, do they have a certain allotment of each game for the deal)? My plan is to wait until Arkham City releases on Tuesday, and then order that along with NHL 12 and Resistance 3.

When you get $40 return value for a new, unopened $60 game, you're not getting any value from the sale. That was the question asked : could he buy a full priced game today and then return it next week for Battlefield 3. The answer to that question is "No". The CS can't help you either -- you'll be returning a game with a receipt that says you got the game on sale for $40. She can't give you $60 in credit for that game even if you ask nicely.

I was simply pointing out that they would still be saving money on the three games overall.

And yes, the cashier could easily override the system and let you swap a game for game with the same regular price. I've worked customer service desks, and have done this exact scenario as a customer. It's YMMV obviously, but it definitely can happen.
