My Gold expired a few days ago, and I've been waiting for a deal on a 12 month card. I saw the $1/month Gold on my dashboard last night (I think it's sponsored by Jack Links Beef Jerky) and wanted to do it, but it said I needed to put a valid credit card on my account. I don't remember the details, but I thought a few years ago there was a downside for keeping CC info on your Xbox, so I didn't pull the trigger.

Totally agreed about the CC info. Since deals on 12-month cards at < $3 per month are common, there's no need to get a chubby over this.
