Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Not that it makes a huge difference, but if you're not currently GCU, you'll get $20 for the trade in, if you are currently GCU, you'd get a 10% bonus or $22. That $6 figure was based on getting $22, so it might cost you $8 + tax to upgrade. It's a really nice deal either way -- especially if it allows you to get 2 years of GCU for $30 as well!

It's a $20 gift card (or $22 if you already have GCU). You can spend it on anything at any time (gift cards don't expire, unlike Reward Zone certificates).
Still, it prints out a $10 off CoD Advanced Warfare coupon that expires one week after game is released, so if you did the trade-in, it probably makes sense to do it this week and put $5 down on CoD AW so you can get the extra $10 RZ certificate issued to you on the back-end after you pick up the game at the discounted price with GCU and trade-in coupon.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I picked up Sunset Overdrve and added a new GCU subscription as well. I'm a current reward zone member as well as a current GCU member. I had them scan the game first, then reward zone card, and finally the new GCU card. Game rang in at $48 and GCU card rang in at $30. I found the GCU cards back in the games area. Pretty easy transaction, no manger required.

They don't know what they are talking about. I bought Super Smash Bros 3DS and extended my membership all the way to 2018.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I just checked my GCU status and it shows good until May of 2018. So it most certainly stacks.

I only needed the manager to get them to scan the card. No override needed. My teller was completely clueless (and I know who she is -- I almost let the guy behind me go ahead to avoid her. Should have done that in retrospect).

Darn. I ordered online for instore pickup and was hoping they could add the GCU extension to the order. Might just have to buy another game and then exchange for a different one in a few weeks, so I can get both my $10 rebate and the extra 2 years.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I just finally checked my account to make sure it stacked. My GCU was applied to my existing account. Good through May 2018. Debating if I want to buy a game next week, just to put me even longer. This $30 price is the lowest it has been ever, right? I got in at $60 and though it was a great deal.

For the general public, yes. We existing (and recently expired) GCU members (back when the promotion wasn't 20% off new games but rather monthly coupons, game magazine and increased RZ credits with pre-orders) got in on the new GCU membership at this rate $30/2yr via an email coupon.

You got overdrive for $30? How does that GCU thing work exactly? I only skimmed through the thread. Can I still get in on the GCU?

Guys, where - exactly - can you check the details of your GCU membership? For the life of me I cannot find the link to show those details.

click on the my best buy tab on their main page. after you sign in, click on rewards where you'd print a certificate. once you get to that page, about halfway down on the right side, it'll list your date of expiration.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Damn.. I forgot to add mine yesterday when I picked up Sunset Overdrive. Though I wasn't sure it worked on a pre-order as I did the pre-order online. I'll have to see if there is another game I want before the offer expires. The next pre-order is Halo collection, but that isn't out until 11/11 I think and I think the GCU offer will be over then.

Only if you wanted them to cancel your online pre-order and then ring it up in the store, losing the $10 pre-order bonus.

Finally!

Though I do wish Best Buy was doing it, so I could stack it with GCU.

Sweet, should be on long enough to see what stores are doing for BF. Otherwise will be picking up these 3 for sure and getting to use the gift cards I got on the sweet 3x trade in value that happened this summer there.

Sunset Overdrive
Halo Collection
COD

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I'll probably be getting Halo: MCC and Lego Batman 3 plus a 3rd full-priced $60 game that can be exchanged for GTAV the following week.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Id love it if Amazon matched this, I'd pick up Shadow of Mordor, Lego Batman 3, and Unity, with all the credit I have there.
