Embarrassing as always.

Who did you have in mind anyway?

Well, MS gave Titanfall away to sell systems. I thought about starting a Gamers Club Unlocked thread but wasn't sure if you guys thought it necessary.

No dog in this fight but apples and oranges?

$40 at a single retailer for 24 hours isn't quite the same as consistently $40 at multiple retailers.

I don't see the big deal either way, if anything it seems like both consoles have had a ton of sales on their games during this first year.

and notice that it's the "standard edition" for the DOTD today. Amazon is still selling the "limited edition" for $46.53.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Why is the Gamers Club Unlocked such a pain in the ass sometimes at giving you what should be an automatic discount? I went to pickup two copies of Watch Dogs for myself and a friend. The first copy I paid for game me the discount but on the second one the cashier had to manually give me a discount. Now, I don't want to have this problem happen with a clueless cashier that will want to argue the situation and waste about 15 minutes of my time. We are entitled to buy 3 copies of any particular title at a 20% discount, right?

Wrong. 2 copies of any given title on any given system.

And getting the auto discount is never a problem for me , even stacking on top of sale prices (except once with an advance "Preview Sale")

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Target is running a "Last Chance" Buy 1 Get 1 promotion that may or may not be advertised in the store. I've only seen one store with the signage actually out, but basically, the only games that are eligible are some of the $20 games that are usually piled up near the value section. Best as I can tell, the only way to tell if a game is part of the promotion is to scan it, and if it is part of the promotion, it will say "Special Purchase" on the side. The only titles I can confirm that worked for me are "Skyrim", "Lollipop Chainsaw" and "Star Trek". Sale is good thru the end of the month.

I was told that we could get up to 3 copies of any title and they could all be on the same system. That is unless they have revised their policy which seems to me that they shouldn't be able to change it for people that have already paid and agreed on their policies.

Per their own website:
http://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/My-Best...nt/td-p/723505

Q: Once I am a member of Gamers Club Unlocked, is there a limit to how many new video games I can buy with my 20% discount?
A: Yes. Members are limited to 3 copies of any one title (example: 2 copies for PS4, 1 copy for Xbox 360 = 3 total).

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Maybe I'm wrong then. Or maybe it's 2 per system, three total?

It might be that but I only bought 2 copies. I really wish Best Buy got their stuff together. Also, the cashier had to go and pull my pre-ordered copies off the shelf because they hadn't even done that already despite having a midnight opening with a whopping 10 customers or so. Now, had I arrived to pickup my pre-orders and having them already been sold then Mr. Hanky would have hit the fan.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I have had problems on several occasions with the GCU discount working. Several months ago I went to buy FF13 and it wouldn't apply the discount. I was told it didn't apply to the cheap games, to which I responded that he was wrong, but he wouldn't budge. Went to a different store a day or two later and the discount applied with no problem.
It always seems to work online, though. I just wish.....WISH I would have thought about it when I was arguing with the knucklehead at BB. I could have pulled it up on my phone and showed him it taking the discount off.

I actually google searched and found a post or two by you dealing directly with one of their customer service reps. This is why I wish they had at least one person completely knowledgeable about their promotions and discounts on the clock at all times. However, this is Best Buy we are talk about and unfortunately, their business practices have been sinking.

Wow, I'm surprised you found that because it got to the point where the person answering me on their forum said they had talked to the manager of the store where I had the problem and that he would be contacting me. After almost a week of hearing nothing I replied to the thread that I had yet to hear from them and the thread conveniently disappeared after that.

Buy Watch Dogs, get $20 off other titles listed (as many as you want). With Gamers Unlocked, makes for a pretty good deal.

Got Dogs for $48 then Killzone for $17 and Infamous for $32.

I confirmed this works, even if it's not advertised in store, today. Other titles I confirmed to work are "Brave", "Toy Story 3", "Cars 2", "Dungeon Siege III", "Borderlands 2 Add on Content Pack". I'm sure there's more, I didn't scan everything that was there, but all the games in the promotion are $20 and it's a true BOGO.

I think I'm going to bite on the 50% off GCU sale at Best Buy that ends on 5/31 when I pick up Mario Kart 8 tonight. Is there any reason not to?

If you buy less than 5 games full price a year, don't get it. It only pays off on the 6th game.

five full price games in two years, actually with the current 50% off membership sale.
Plus you save even more on any discounted or on-sale game you might buy later.

Bottom line : Get it if you can afford it. It would be hard not to come out ahead if you buy even one game a quarter.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

yeah, you break even at the 6th game. but if you also preorder several games, the break even point is lower, since you get $10 in RZC per preordered game.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I have no issue finding new releases for $40, worst case scenario I use the birthday coupon at Gamestop. The reason I'd get the membership is those free after coupon deals (they had COD:Ghosts Prestige free last week wtf) or video games deal of the day. Even the great Watch Dogs deal BB had last week, if you didn't want a 2nd game Target had a superior deal on release day.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

i guess technically that $10 preorder bonus can be had w/o the GCU, but I'm counting that in my calculation, since I'll now be preordering from BB instead of Amazon.
