I think this is the lowest, but (as I'm sure you know since you have Infinity) it's just a gateway drug to a much more expensive collection...

It was $37 during Black Friday at both Walmart and TRU. $39.99 is still a great price.

Despite the initial raping over co-op and the superfluous power discs, I think Infinity is cheaper in he long run.

Why do you say that? Especially with kids involved, you have to figure that over the long run Disney has a huge catalog to choose from. In the article that talked about them downsizing the videogame division, they mentioned they're already working on Star Wars and Marvel (which we all guessed, but still).

At least with Skylanders, you can kind of avoid the reposes...

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

That's just it, since 80% of the characters only work in the Toy Box, you don't have to buy any of them. Hell, the figures are superfluous as well compared to Skylanders. The lack of swapping mid game really gives them no purpose. They're just overpriced Happy Meal figures with shitty paint jobs which cuts down on collector desirability.

The game really needs more interactivity in regards to swapping.

Sounds like I'm down on the game, but I'm not. It's a great game. The figure quality, price and lack of purpose outside the toy box are just a drag.

Ah, I understand where you're coming from. But still, if you have kids, it doesn't matter that the Frozen princesses don't have their own level, when they see them at the store that's what they'll want, and only after you get home will they be disappointed.

On a side note, maybe because my kids are young, but my daughter absolutely loves Skylanders, and despite loving the characters is completely indifferent about Infinity. The toybox seems like a lot of effort at this point for not a lot of gain; am I missing something? (note that I have both for the WiiU).

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

My kids spend most of their time playing the Toybox "game" and basically building useless shit to try and reach a castle. I don't quite understand the point of it at all.

I think I would be a little more concerned with my kids being upset at buying them and then finding out that they don't have their own level than Disney being upset that I didn't buy them because they did a chintzy job of properly integrating those figures into the game and making their inclusion worthwhile. The Toy Box, despite being fun, is a glorified sandbox where they can basically throw any figure in for a profit in a cut and paste mold.

Game Deal Daily has the Xbox One and PS4 versions of Assassins Creed: Black Flag for $39.99 shipped today.

Very tempted! It's just that March is so full, and Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze comes out next week... Decisions, decisions.

Black Flag is a hell of a lot of fun and, in my opinion, a vast improvement over AC3. The ship warfare and upgrades, the switch in protagonist, and the "reboot" for the real-world setting are exactly what the series needed.

Yeah, I like it a lot too. It looks great and is a really fun open-world game.

Once again, I'll point out that the current-gen versions are on sale at Best Buy for $29.99 (GCU $23.99) this week and that PS4 owners can upgrade their copy to the PS4 version via the PSN store (though 3/31/14) for an additional $10, though they have to keep the PS3 disc in the drive in order to play it.

What all is coming in March?

Watch Dogs was delayed (which was formerly one of my anticipated March titles).

Nobody should be delaying any game purchases in anticipation of MGS V : Ground Zeroes.

I haven't read anything about it. I just heard Metal Gear and was interested. What's the story there? Or do you just not like the series?

edit: Okay, I just read a little about it. It's a prologue to the actual Metal Gear V??? And it's only 2 hours long. Well, I'll take that off my list.

I missed that sale again god dammit. I am always just a few hours from finishing work and when I finally see it, it's gone. There's a few games I would have loved to scoop up.
