Games with random dungeons, monsters, turn based... known for being punishingly challenging. Nethack is probably the most famous. Newer versions have been stuff like Shiren the Wanderer and Pokemon Ranger Rescue.

I really enjoy the genre.

Thank you for recommending Plants vs Zombies. At 0.99 cents it was almost like getting it for free for such an excellent and addicting game. I can't put it down!

Iphone Red Alert's real time strategy mechanics work well and it's surprisingly fun. However, there are only 10 campaigns and it seems so far the first 2 are tutorial heavy so it seems a bit watered down. It's well worth it for $1.

I've been playing Undercroft and for a free game it's excellent. It reminds me of Dungeon Master but some of the quests/chapters are quicker/shorter.

Can anyone speculate when Final Fantasy or Civilization might go on sale again? I guess it's random but was curious if there are certain app sale times. I don't suppose there are a lot of 'Black Friday' app sales or anything like that but really want those 2 and don't want to pay $7+.

Civilization has been on sale at least 3 times already (including being free for a short time), so it's probably a safe bet to wait. Final Fantasy, only once so far I believe.

I got it a couple weeks ago for $0.99 and I love it! My favorite is King where you have to shoot from inside the bubbles.

Final Fantasy 1 and 2 seem to go on sale (along with the rest of the Square Enix stuff) when there's a new release... I remember they were on sale when Chaos Rings was released for iphone and later for ipad. Never 99c or anything, though.

Hmmm... there's a Heroes of Might & Magic app port (Heroes 2) that I really want but the reviews seem so horrible. Apparently it's not possible to save your game? Can anyone report on this one?

As much as I'm still addicted to HOMM, don't think I'll take a chance on this one. I will watch it for price drops though, maybe at 99 cents....

I did pick up Palm Heroes when it hit 99 cents once. I hear it's a decent Heroes clone, but haven't really played with it yet. I can't stop playing Creeps and Plants vs Zombies.

Even if you bought Zen Bound you want to download this one for free. Chillango is no longer distributing the game (the one we all bought ages ago). Secret Door is selling it now and that is the version that will receive updates. They are making it free now so previous owners can get the new one which will be updated.
