Re: Official PS3 Thread - October 08 edition
The recent PS3 update added regular full screen support. You just click the full screen button on the Hulu sidebar and it will pop to full screen. However, I haven't tried it with widescreen shows so it may not be 16X9. Hulu is still a bit too jumpy on the PS3 browser for my liking. I prefer using PlayOn which works great on both the PS3 and 360 and supports full screen playback and smooth video.

I had a problem using Hulu on the PS3 where If i paused the video, the entire system would freeze. I stopped doing that after the second time.

i am impressed with the multimedia capabilities of both platforms. the ability to use psp connect to view media remotely is a pretty trick feature of the ps3. i agree with whomever posted previously that both systems lack of easy mac connectivity is a bit of a downer. as i do not want to buy multiple programs to stream to either the xbox or the ps3, i bought medialink (as opposed to 360 connect) last week and i think that does a fine job. i use my 360 primarily for games (and netflix movies) and my ps3 primarily as a media center.

Re: Official PS3 Thread - October 08 edition
Same problem here, as I discovered this weekend when I tried watching the latest Galactica episode. The buffer doesn't work well enough for continuous play on the PS3 (it stutters constantly and the low-res image is hardly appealing), and since I can't pause to let a substantial portion of the show load, Hulu is more or less of no use to me. I can appreciate that a site like this exists as an alternative for those who don't have cable, but when the not-so-legal sector can offer up a much better version, then that's where I'm going to turn.

I was severely disappointed in Hulu on the PS3. Choppy and unwatchable for me. Still, it's a legit way to catch a show I missed for one reason or another.

As a piece of hardware and a multimedia device, the PS3 is better. As a console or as a value offering, the 360 is better.
How do you do the "easy" MKV conversion for the PS3?

just the one - 9293.
And Bus as wewantflair said mkv2vob is the tool everyone uses. The drawback is your audio will be downsampled. Still looks nice though.

I'm definitely going to give mkv2vob a try this weekend.
On another note - I just picked up Enemy Territory: Quake Wars PS3 ... the reviews on this one are brutal, though I picked it up on the cheap. Is the game really that terrible? Seems like the most common criticisms of the console (particulary PS3) versions are: lackluster graphics, no storyline or explanation. A lot of reviews I've read were evaluating the value of the game based on the $60 price tag, so assuming price is not a factor in the equation, has anyone been able to find anything redeeming in this title that would make it worth keeping?

I didn't intend that to be as rude as it probably came off...just wanted to talk about games...especially LittleBIGPlanet, which is the most fun I've had with a game since Super Mario Galaxy.

IIRC, there was some discussion of Savage Moon (PSN game) in this thread a while back. The frequently delayed game is now set for release tomorrow on the US PlayStation store.

Uncharted and BioShock were great but short-lived (not to mention really old), same goes for LittleBigPlanet for those not interested in level creation (and while some user levels are nice, they're nothing compared to the real ones). I wish I liked Warhawk. The PS3 really needs some games

K.
Both are plenty replayable, and I usually buy my games about a year old, so
People are doing some brilliant stuff out there. I have a 4 star level, and it's not even in the same league as some of the stuff folks have done out there. LBP may not be YOUR bag, but "short-lived" is an absurd description.
I wish you did too. It's the best online game I've played. Granted, I'm not an FPS fan.
It's keeping me plenty busy. I'm only half-way through Bioshock, still have Prince of Persia on deck, still play Rock Band at least once a week, check out LBP just about every night, and wish I had time to get better at Warhawk.
Killzone 2 looks amazing. Uncharted 2 looks amazing. God of War is coming. The Ico team is working on something, I'm sure.

same goes for LittleBigPlanet for those not interested in level creation (and while some user levels are nice, they're nothing compared to the real ones).
I wish I liked Warhawk.

If you're watching those you're doing it wrong.

So the browser/Hulu isn't a value added feature? I thought we were talking about multimedia functionality.
