That's how I ended up getting COD4 until December 2007. And I was able to get it on sale from Amazon. So that was actually good. I think was still playing a lot of Halo 3 when the game was released. And thank God that GTA4 was delayed...

I looking forward to Bioshock 2 as well, especially since it looks like a long time until Half Life 2, Ep 3 comes out.
I wonder if there's going to be a storyline and history that's revealed through audio diaries. That was a great part of the first game, piecing together the ambitions and downfall of Rapture.
Since you have the option of having a Little Sister accompany you, I hope they record more dialog for them or make them less yakky altogether. If I have to hear that "chocolate is better than grapes" for the 80th time, I would be tempted to harvest them all so I wouldn't have to put up with that.

Kotaku's multiplayer impressions:
Bioshock didn't excel as a shooter. It excelled as a narrative, Rapture acting as a living, breathing story. So it's a little strange seeing part of the game reduced to a standard multiplayer shooter.
2K showed us a few rounds of Bioshock 2's multiplayer component yesterday, and in doing so, have revealed an aspect of the game that's as removed from the creepy, oppressive atmosphere of the first game as you can possibly imagine.
While the final game will feature three multiplayer modes, we were only shown one, which centred around a single Big Daddy. At the start of the level, there's a Big Daddy suit dropped randomly into the level. First person to find it becomes said Big Daddy, and inherits all the advantages you'd expect. When/if that Big Daddy is finally killed (though this isn't the objective, it's just a plus in an otherwise standard deathmatch), the suit is dropped randomly somewhere else in the level, and free to be picked up again by any of the players.
All three modes will support a maximum of only ten players total, with a range of weapons and plasmids available. These weapons can be improved, and your arsenal increased, by levelling up, much like Call of Duty's rank system.
Which all sounds nice enough, but at the same time, looks a little "tits on a bull", if you'll pardon the expression.
Bioshock was a game renowned for its singleplayer experience, and it's hard seeing how tacking three multiplayer game modes with a limited number of players onto the sequel will count for much of anything. I mean, it seemed to work fine and all, but just did not once ever make me think fickle multiplayer devotees would stop playing Call of Duty or Team Fortress 2 for this.
On the bright side, this has no bearing whatsoever on the game's singleplayer component...

That's about what I expected. I'm looking forward to another immersive, excellently done single-player story. I'm not expecting to get much use out of the multiplayer.

BioShock 2 delayed to fiscal 2010
In a move that's not all too surprising, Take-Two has announced that BioShock 2 has been delayed until fiscal 2010. The game, which was originally scheduled for an early November release, is being delayed to "provide additional development time for the title." While Take-Two's next fiscal year begins in November, the lack of a specific timeframe for release suggests this delay will be quite significant.
Perhaps the late addition of yet another developer to BioShock 2 should have acted as an early indicator of the delay. Take-Two's Chairman Strauss Zelnick publicly apologized about the setback in a press release: "We recognize that our revised outlook for the balance of fiscal year 2009, due to both internal and external factors, is a disappointment. That said, we concluded that moving the release of BioShock 2 into fiscal year 2010 was the right decision for the product."
Take-Two's investors are unlikely to respond to this news positively, considering the company's sparse presence this holiday season. With Take-Two's most anticipated titles -- Mafia II, Max Payne 3 and now BioShock 2 -- all appearing in fiscal 2010, the company will have little to rely on to bolster its current year results. Zelnick reiterated that "we remain confident in the long term potential for Take-Two's business, and our ability to capitalize on that potential through our exceptional creative talent and solid balance sheet."

I love Bioshock but this is great news. I'll have more time to play the other games that are going to be released this Fall.

That's just fucking great. The one game I was really looking forward to this year. I read last week that they outsourced a 4th development house which could signal major problems with the game. I don't understand why this sequel is so hard to put out after the groundwork and foundations were already laid with the first game.
The funny thing is how crowded Q1 2010 will be with AAA titles.

My concern is that this is only July, and we are bound to see more delays coming. I was very stoked for Mafia 2, Red Dead, and Bioshock, and now I gotta wait another year. If Uncharted and Borderlands can stay on track this year, I'll be somewhat happy.

If this delay is so they can work on the multiplayer part of the game, that sucks. But whatever, I'm still really looking forward to it and if it takes a little bit longer to give it the polish the first one had, I'm more than happy to wait it out.

After reading this I'm actually relieved now. We were facing a major release assault in October and November with Bioshock, Assassins Creed 2, Left4Dead2 and COD. I'm not worried one bit. I'd rather them delay instaed of rushing something out just to meet a date. With the first part of 2010 now in play Bioshock and Aliens vs Predator will be the two most sought after games.
Oh, I forgot to add Army of Two: 40th Day for around late November, mid December as well.

Glad to see it got delayed. I wasn't really anxious about this game anyways. Hopefully this will let them apply some more polish.

Considering it's a high-profile game, it'll probably have a multitude of different releases. But since it's still at least 6 months from being released there aren't really any details at the present.
