Don't forget to pickup unused traps or proximity mines after a battle.

Re: Bioshock 2: Out now(ish)

can proximity mines be picked up?
I think I tried once and it didn't show an option to do that. I mean, the ones I setup, and were unused.

stuck and need some help...

I am told to use the drill to clear the debris in front of me.
I tried to drill my way thru but it does not work.
I keep drilling and drilling (using the fuel station near it to refill) and still cannot clear the debris to get thru.
what am i doing wrong?

Hold the drill key and on ps3 hit O while using the drill... on 360 it is probably B

You have to get the research camera and research the Brute Splicer first though. If it's telling you to use your drill to clear the debris, I guess you've probably already done the research portion.

Re: Bioshock 2: Out now(ish)

I finished it last night, but since I was focusing more on finishing it, I didn't play with mixing up my attacks much. I'll get plenty more play out of it, going through again. Missed several Power to the People stations, so I figure there's a lot I missed.

Liked using Hypnotize 3 on a Brute because when there wasn't anyone for him to attack, he would follow me around, telling me what a great guy I am.

Probably this... I had the same problem. I thought I already killed him but I screwed up the research part of it.

You can always take a picture of the dead body. That may work for this case.

Re: Bioshock 2: Out now(ish)

One of the things I loved about the first game was the use of vents and tunnels as alternate ways to access rooms. Kinda reminded me of MGS. I only found one in BS2. Did I miss most of them or was that feature dropped from this game?

Its kinda hard to crawl through a vent in a Big Daddy suit. Remember in the first game you didn't get the suit until late in the game.

you can't even get the drill until you research the Brute Splicer with the camera.
Also, i see a big marker on my map indicating my goal where all the debris is.
Maybe the PC version is bugged?
I am holding down the shift key while pressing the left key mouse to use the drill.

You start the game with the drill. You can't get the drill dash until you complete the first level of Brute Splicer research.

Wander around and another one will pop up sooner or later. Either that or go back to an earlier save.

Look at your research tab in the menu. Does it say you've got level one of the Brute Splicer researcher?

sorry. i meant i the drill dash.
i even went back and replayed it - a message pops up

Brute Splicer Research bonus
New ability: Drill dash

i have the skill and can use it, but using it on the debris will not clear it.
Is there a specific spot in the debris you need to drill?

Does anyone have sound cutting out issues? I have the 360 version and every 15 mins or so the sound almost completely cuts out.

If you did research it, then I'm out of ideas. All I can suggest is stand as close to the debris as possible. I had no problems -- but then again, I'm playing on the 360, so the controls are different.

The sound on the PS3 definitely has some issues. Sometimes sound effects are "choppy" (e.g. they cut in and out rapidly). Also, I've now had it happen a few times where I load up my saved game and dramatic/battle music is playing but there's no reason for it.

Great point, I never thought about it like that.

You need to do a drill dash, not just drill. Hold RT and press B.

Re: Bioshock 2: Out now(ish)

Beat it last night. Really cool game....even though the last two levels send ya on some mini-fetch missions - it wasn't too distracting.

I really dug the twist in the game with
Spoiler:
Elanor becoming a big sister - that was pretty cool that you automatically get a plasmid to summon her

I also liked how Sinclair
Spoiler:
wasn't out to get you and you were forced to take him out

Prob my most satisfying thrill of the game is when you figure out why some things are the way they are in rapture
Spoiler:
mainly why the little sisters call corpses "angels" and how they see things through their eyes in rapture - that was very well done
.

Not quite sure where they are going to go from here though but I hope they continue this series.

The multi-player is pretty good actually - I dig the apartment you get.

There is still room for improvement:

- stop making the player pick up 50 thousand food items upon entering every new room
- Ammo is used much too quickly
- there are just too many upgrades missed upon selecting to be "good" throughout the game along with not wanting to stand around waiting for little sisters to gather.

But all in all, I was very surprised with this game - it is better than the first even though the story actually did end up getting a tad stale towards the end........it was still great and nowhere near bad by any means.

I had some similar thoughts as I finished it last night. IMO, I think Bioshock 2 is the better game, but nothing will rival the initial experience in Rapture. I didn't really have any complaints about the story... and the time spent as the little sister could have been tacked on as a gimmick, but it was pleasantly short and was really designed to add some depth to the overall Bioshock 1 and 2 experience. Very cool.

And for the record, Freeze Level 3 + Drill Dash. Ftw.

That's exactly what I used pretty much the whole time. Doing the drill dash really made you feel like a big daddy.

Although I gotta admit...hypnotize was funny as all hell (and really creepy turning a splicer on your side to help you out)

"I don't serve ANYBODY!!!!........but I'll help ya out"

somebody also mentioned previously in this thread a Brute telling him he was "the man" - good stuff.

Decoy was cool but got a little old - incinerate was decent too.
