Tried Droplitz this morning. That game is almost exactly like the hacking mini-game in Bioshock. It's not bad for a puzzle game concept (it would make a nice iphone app), but it really isn't all that much fun for an Arcade title. The demo is about all the experience I need of Droplitz. Pass for me.

As mentioned in his blog, Sorry! Sliders was added to the marketplace, but it's considered a "Game Add-On".

Yeah, I think I'll be fine with the original Worms.

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

I didn't realize Turtles in Time was getting updated graphics. I can't say I think it's a great step up from the original game (it looks like some of the charm is lost by ditching the sprites), but I probably will get it as I loved that game. It will be fun to play through it again.

Also, my mother has never ever like video games. She was the type that could never beat the first level of Mario Bros. It just never clicked for her, but now she has found her game. It will be of no surprise that my 53 yr old mom is addicted to Peggle. It's adorable. She keep saying "just one more board" like a true gamer. I love how angry she got when she would get close to, but wouldn't clear the board. Pop Cap are geniuses.

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

I loved that the first Worms went back to it's strategy roots but the MP suffered from not having all the crazy-ass weapons. Sounds like they've added quite a bit this time out(even added Avatar support):

Light up the midsummer sky as WORMS 2: ARMAGEDDON hits Xbox Live Arcade!

WORMS™ has been one of the most successful and consistent Xbox Live titles since it’s launch in March 2007 and now it’s back, bigger and better than ever for this stunning and feature packed new edition.

Worms 2: Armageddon builds upon the fine heritage of the cult 1999 hit ‘Worms Armageddon’ by massively extending the feature set of the original, award-winning WORMS and including the majority of the cult WORMS ARMAGEDDON feature set as well as a raft of exciting new weapons and game content, modes and extensions (many of which featured in the highly rated ‘Open Warfare 2’ editions)

Offering hundreds of hours of replay value, engaging single player campaign, tons of player customisation, laugh-out-loud multiplayer escapades and leaderboard challenges, Worms 2: Armageddon should prove even more popular than the original WORMS for Live Arcade!
Team17 listened hard to the fans response and have delivered in spades, with cult weapons returning, amazing new weapons, incredible customisation of Worms teams (including around 60 voice sets, hats and more), tons of game options, totally new physics & more dynamic play, persistent fire and much, much more.

SENSATIONAL NEW WEAPONS!
• Sentry Gun! Defend your position with this deadly guardian.
• Electro Magnet! Attract or repel deadly metallic explosives with this unique item.
• Bunker Buster! Use this vertical missile to dig out enemy Worms that have snuck away!
• Buffalo Of Lies! The Donkey’s nemesis, this Trojan Buffalo will cause havoc!
• Super Bunker Buster! Devastating below ground charge!

RETURNING CULT FAVOURITES FROM ARMAGEDDON (in addition to all WORMS weapons)
• Super Sheep! Take your fluffy flocking friend to the air! A controllable, flying super sheep!
• Holy Hand Grenade! Hallelujah! The Deity’s weapon of choice!
• Concrete Donkey! It’s back! As mad and wildly destructive as ever!
• Napalm! Love the smell of burning Worms in the morning?
• Petrol Bomb! This cocktail packs a mighty roasting for enemies. Lob one today.
• Armageddon! Not quite the end as we know it, but it could be for your enemies!
• Parachute! A roper’s best friend! Drop huge heights with wind assist…
• Drill! Dig to victory with the pneumatic drill.
• Baseball Bat. Whack out enemy Worms for a home run cheer!
• Earthquake! Can you rumble the opponent?
• Poison Strike! Germ warfare!

NEW GAME FEATURES
• All new high definition, widescreen artwork
• Reworked audio-visuals throughout
• Fire! Persistent fire eats and burns away the landscape. Hot stuff.
• Crazy Crates! Start with basic weapons and shop as you go!
• Fort Mode! Start teams on your own bases.
• Rope Racing mode.
• Massively enhanced & improved game physics & reactions.
• Speedier, more direct gameplay.
• All new high-definition audio (sound effects, music)

• All new leaderboards and leaderboard objectives.

NEW GAMEPLAY LEVELS
• 5 all new landscapes graphical types modelled on the original Armageddon style. Battle in Medieval England, Cheese Moon, Construction site and more.
• 130 base landscape styles (compared to just six on original) for diverse play levels.
• Vertical Levels! Play on tall, narrow strips or caverns as well as traditional ‘wide’ levels.
• Mix combinations of landscape type, style, your own game rules and more to create thousands of possible levels and hundreds, if not thousands of hours of replay value.

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

Serious Sam coming this summer: http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/25/cr...-sam-for-xbla/

The Xbox 360 is, of course, a great system for new first-person-shooters, but with XBLA re-releases of games like Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, and Duke Nukem 3D, it's also becoming the system of choice for classic FPS games. Now Croteam is working on an XBLA version of Serious Sam, called, unsurprisingly, Serious Sam HD.

Publisher Majesco told Eurogamer that the remake, which will "re-imagine The First Encounter," will be available on XBLA late this summer for 1,200 Microsoft Points. The new version will include four-player online co-op.

Though we look forward to blowing up stuff with abandon, we are a bit concerned that this news could mean that the "next Serious Sam FPS game" to which Croteam's CEO referred is actually the first one again.
Some comparison shots over at x360a: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/n...is-Summer.html

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

That's some hot shit. I might have to cave and purchase my first 1,200 point game. I hope this isn't what was rumored to be Serious Sam 3.

4-player co-op? Awesome. Finding 4 people to pony up 1,200 points for Serious Sam? Not Awesome.

That's a tough bite at 1,200 points, if it goes on sale for 800 I'd pick it up though.

It, like Rocket Riot, is another one of those titles that I'd be more likely to get if a bunch of other people did too. The fun would be in multi-player and I just don't have the local people to play with.

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

Considering the game was a budget title when it originally came out (it retailed for I believe $29.99 but was available much cheaper early on.) I'm kind of surprised by the 1,200 pts price.

If all the graphics were redone nicely and they added a little more content, I will be on board. It's still a fun straight forward shoot em up, just not for $15, 9 years out.

I want to get Rocket Riot, but just too much all came out at once, that I knew I wouldn't get to it. It's definitely at the top of my list when I have some free time though.

Tough to swallow considering Serious Sam is on the Back-compat list. Surprisingly Half.com is showing $8-$15 used for it.

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

One's gotta wonder if they've ever done a study of how much more they could make by pricing these things at what people consider the "right" price point (instead of everyone saying this 800 point game should be 400/1200 point game should be 800).

I think a study would show pretty consistently that any game should be cheaper.

Of course, but age should definitely play a factor in a company determining cost. This is a 10 year old game we're talking about, same age as Worms 2. It was also a budget title on day one which should be a consideration.

Kotaku has screenshots comparing this new HD version with the original.

Looks pretty nice, but not 1200 points nice.

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

Then again, when shoddy ports of Point and Click adventure games (c'mon, Sam and Max isn't THAT taxing.) go for $20 (Great content, shitty port), I can see an updated version of an old semi-classic going for $15.

But it better be one hell of an upgrade. And you all better buy it so I have people to co-op with.

I love serious sam and might shell out the cash for it. To be honest I would be much more like to play an xbla title then a disc for the same price because I am too lazy to change the disc out, and I know many more like me.

Worms Armageddon 2 looks awesome. Only on XBL? Wish it got some PC/Mac action.

It's games like this where I wish there were cross platform play just to increase the pool of players. You may not be able to chat with someone on a different console, but it would sure beat playing the computer...

...unless of course they make this one as asinine hard as they did the first one before the patch.

I stopped playing the first on XBL because the computer was cheap as hell. I'd have 3 worms left, they had 1, and in one turn he'd manage to kill all 3. What did the patch do, make them dumber?

Essentially, yes. You can probably go back and finish the game now.

I spent a good 20+ hours finishing the solo game prior to the patch. I was a little disheartened that they made it easier since I worked my ass off to finish it.

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

I don't know if anyone is still playing Magic, but I'm going for the 100% achievement. I'm pretty sure you have to unlock every card for every deck. You unlock the decks, obviously, through the campaign on the battles indicated.

Unlocking cards is 1 per win, until you fill up that deck.

Luckily it seems you can replay the same opponent over and over with a deck to unlock all it's cards. I'm currently at 53% and calculate that I have 108 more wins to get them all

Also, a big f/u to the devs for not letting the co-op campaign be played online. I'm going to have to man 2 controllers to get through that. I wonder if playing there unlocks cards. Hmmm...
