Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

Anybody have any practical tips for the the 750k Peggle challenge? Closest I got was 619k last night with the space blast guy on the double-helix level.

All the strategies I've read online rely entirely on luck and restarting if you don't get triple score and some other specific thing out of the magic hat on one shot.

I can't even get past the first 300k challenge. I guess the magic hat 3x score does the trick?

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

I started in the 15s. I figured I didn't want to do 70 challenges just to hit a brick wall at the end ;)

I've done 15-1, 2, and 3. 15-5 (beat 10 in a row) I got halfway through.

My best luck is with the rabbit balls or the owl balls.

I'd say use the rabbit rather than space blast - and hope for the triple score.

Did I mention I had a top 1000 shot for that double helix level? ;)

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

Yeah, I had been trying that but I'm not good at clearing the sides w/o destroying the helix's upward movement.

I did, however, get a 100% clear on that level.

Um...so? :) Beat my shot on that level baby. And I wasn't even trying or knew any better (hence using the beaver's balls instead of the rabbit's balls).

I was ranked in the lower 40's at first but as people have started working the hell out of that level, I think I moved into the low 100's now. :(

^ I noticed your score and that you used the pyramid dude. I figured the width of the pyramid helped you get in at the bottom of the helix. Is that true?

No idea. Goes to show you I was not paying any attention. you mentioned it was the cat's balls instead of the beaver's balls so I guess I was wrong there. It was my first time thru the adventure mode and it was just a lucky shot and no thought went into it whatsoever.

I will go back and watch the replay and see what I did and post later.

I thought I saw you on the other night but I just checked my friends list and your aren't on there. Weird. I just sent you a new friend request so you can bask underneath my best shot glow.

Pinata, I checked and I guess it erased my shot replay since it has since dropped out of the top 50 shots. It is currently ranked at #139 with a shot score of 1,248,040 points.

Dammit - rockband might have to wait tonight then.

That's twice now.

BTW, for anyone interested in Tower Defense games but thought Crystal Defenders was lame. Check out the demo to the Community Game: NextWar: The Quest for Earth.

It is standard tower defense with some neat upgrading and very simple graphics (like Geometry Wars enemies). It is also only 200 points if you decide to buy it.

I played a bit of Peggle last night and was able to get in the top 100 of one of the first boards. 1-3 or something like that. I did like 500K+ points and the number 1 had 800K+.

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

What's the easiest Peggle level to clear entirely and with who's magical balls? I've tried repeatedly and I haven't got that achievement yet.

Raul3 03-28-09 11:37 PM

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

The first levels are really easy. 1-1, 1-2, 1-3.

Since you want to clear all the pegs use one of the balls that clear more pegs. I've used the frog here with good results, since the explosion clears blue and orange pegs. Most of the balls should work fine here though.

You know how I was able to stop playing Peggle on XBLA?
I bought it for the DS...

I've got that coming from the Amazon sale. How does it play on the DS?

Graphics aren't as sharp, but it plays exactly the same - twice the the amount of levels though.

Wow, just played the Uno rush trial...that game is crap. It's a timed "dumb luck" simulator, where you spend the entire round waiting for a timer to tick away since nobody has the correct color to play. Fun stuff! I barely liked the first Uno, since I'm no longer 6 years old, but this is far worse. Back to Peggle...

1-3 with the Alien (or Frog as you dubbed him), on my first try. Thanks. I had stupidly tried 1-1 with the flippers not realizing that the lower ledges completely blocked the flippers' trajectory.

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

Since I was out this weekend I played a lot of Trism in my iPhone. I really love that game, I'm even interested in trying to get the achievements, take that PSN! ;)
But to be on topic, that would be a really good game in XBLA, the kind of game you can expect there. The main issue would be how to translate the iPhone's acceloremeter into the Xbox controller, it would be easier with the PS3 and the SIXAXIS, but they should be able to have something decent in Xbox too.

Note: No, I haven't heard of any rumours about this game being ported to any console, so it's all my speculation. :p
