Cool, but I already have it on the VC - the faked "HD" doesn't look too hot.

I'm holding my breath for the rumored Marvel vs. Capcom 2 coming to XBLA and PSN...

Online co-op would be a decent reason for a rebuy. If it's just the VC version again or like the UGC games without online play, I see no point.

Does it ever? (Answer: No).

But MOST of the classics on XBLA thus far have had options to turn the filtering off.

Apparently somebody determined from the PS3 version's trophy list that the game can be beaten in 80 minutes. $20 is a lot for a beat-em-up that you can beat in 80 minutes. I'm curious to see how it reviews - I'm not expecting it to fare well. Still, their timing is perfect, and it will probably capitalize on the current fervor over the movie.

Effective immediately, participants in the thread must refrain from using the following words:

- money
- worth
- value
- dollars
- cheap
- expensive

The management thanks you for your cooperation in this matter.

I am sorry but my money is worth a lot more to me then some others so a game needs to hold it's value a lot longer then some of these games that should be cheap but are not, and 20 dollars is really expensive for a game that is supposed to be a micro transaction.

:)

Can we still say "muff rub?"

If you can't tell what games these are from the pics, you won't care.

Man, I cannot believe that they are charging 1600 points for Watchmen! It's a game than can be beaten in two hours! It does not appear to be the rare sort of game that should warrent such an elevated price point. Perchance I may pick it up during a future limited-time sales event where it would be priced more in accordance with other comparable downloadble XBLA games.
;)

The use of the term "muff rub" is not only permitted, but actively encouraged. Carry on!

Ended up with an extra free code for the King Pack for Castle Crashers. First person to PM me can have it.

edit: Given away now.

This appears to be a full retail disc...

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/g.../achievements/

It has 1400 achievement points and 70 achievements. I'm guessing it's 7 games each with 200pts, and you can buy them individually via Arcade?

pinata242 03-03-09 10:40 AM

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

It will be interesting to see how that plays out.

I wouldn't want them on a disc over the convenience of "soft" hard drive copies.

What indication do you have that it's a full retail disc as opposed to an XBLA with 7 different 200 point DLC components or 7 XBLA titles that tie into the same achievement list?

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

If there is a retail disc, I'd grab it. Otherwise I'll just get a couple of the games for the wife.

Watchmen is unavailable as of now. I wonder why.

EDIT: Its up now, 1.35GB.

Bought Watchmen - it's repetitive as hell and fairly short for $20 but there is something just cool as fuck about playing as Rorschach and beating the living hell out of people, so I'm not too upset that I spent the points on it...but really, it should have been half the price they're asking - $20 is way too high for what you get here... but I'm a Watchmen whore, so I forked it over.

Decker 03-04-09 05:24 PM

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

Reviews of Watchmen : TEIN have been pretty brutal. Here's Metacritc, which screws up their aggregate score by calculating an 8.5 from IGN for the game even though it actually scored a 5.5. Joystiq hated it even more.
I love their closing line:

The presentation work feels like Warner Bros. desperately trying to justify a weighty price tag, but its efforts are clearly misdirected. I'd actually consider dropping two sawbucks for a sub-3-hour experience. What I can't abide is paying $20 for a game that made me wish it was even shorter.

Based on all the reviews, I think I will probably just satiate my need for Watchmen gaming by playing the demo over and over until the urge to buy goes away. ;)

If these reviews are to be believed, there really shouldn't be much difference between playing the demo repeatedly and playing the full game. :)
