I'll do it. It's an okay game.

Sounds good. I can't tell if online co-op is only 2 players or up to 4 and I'm not home to check.

I like Undertow. It plays like Star Wars Battlefront, a game I really enjoyed.

Just tried R-Type demo. I really like the presentation -- choosing which arcade machine to play is really sweet. The on-the-fly changing between original and 3D graphics is very well executed (if completely unnecessary). I hope more games use this feature in future because it's pretty cool.
Having said that, I couldn't possibly imagine paying 1200 points for this. I would probably pass at 800. It seems incredibly hard. Yes, there's an Infinite Mode that gives you unlimited ships, but what's the point of that? Besides, the game plays exactly like Ageis Wing, which is free. I know I'm only comparing demos here, but Omega Five seemed like a lot more fun to play.

:hscratch: A twin-stick shooter plays like a first person shooter?

Actually, a third-person shooter. It doesn't control like it, but the conquest multiplayer mode is very similar in execution.

 I've already got my wallet out.

Telltale's work with the Sam & Max and Strong Bad games has been excellent, so they've got my money already. Liking Wallace and Gromit certainly helps too.

But what if Wallace & Gromit is 1200 points?

Then it will certainly be more worthy of the cost then R-Type.

Yeah, this.

I don't have a problem with a 1200 point price. I just don't think it's justified in all cases. Sometimes a game is just not worth 1200 points to me.

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

That's only 200 more "points" than Strong Bad on the Wii.

Team Xbox's 8.6 review is up for next week's release of 3 on 3 NHL Arcade is up. I thought that was a sure-pass for me, but reading that review, it sounds pretty fun actually. I look forward to checking out the demo now.

I was gonna give it a chance and might get it. This just makes me long for a roster updated nba jam game

Hopefully it's similar to NHL Open Ice or that 64 Wayne Gretzky game.

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

NHL talent exists in the form of forty of the league’s top players, including standouts such as Chara, Iginla, Crosby, Ovechkin and Dipietro; each with stats simplified to “fast,” ‘strong” or “all around.” And the goalies—well, they’re all categorized the same in a game designed for double-digit scoring, and that would be “terrible.”

This sounds to me more like an updated version of Ice Hockey

I thought the NBA Street series was a pretty good replacement for NBA Jam.

Well, I was really looking forward to seeing what sort of first-day numbers R-type put up on 360voice yesterday. My feeling was anything signifcantly less than Ikaruga would be a pretty clear indication that the pricing was a mistake. Anyway, they still haven't updated the site. Clearly they're having some issues with the website (as witnessed by them showing 21 people played L4D on Sunday -- I don't think so). So the wait continues...

I can't wait to grab that NHL Arcade, I was bummed because I thought it was out this week.

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

Numbers are up for R-Type. 600 on first day. Not terrible, but certainly not great. Compare that with 1884 for Ikaruga or even 967 for Omega Five (a previously completely unknown SHUMP title) and you'll see that price point certainly kept people away.

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

Just tried the demo on PSN where the game is up already. It's actually pretty awesome, even though they don't have real NHL teams, which I think is a big mistake. I think I might very well end up buying it--it's really fun even against the computer. I couldn't score on a foot-high goalie my first try, which is pretty embarrassing.
