Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Good news PSN updates are moving to Tuesdays starting in May.

Do you sometimes get jealous of your Xbox-owning friends that are able to download demos and DLC a day earlier than you? Don't worry, PS3 fans. Sony has a solution: Release content before Microsoft! Both the American and European PlayStation Store updates are moving to new days, starting in May.

Tuesdays become the new day for PSN updates in North America, as recently explained by Pulse's Christina Lee . In Europe, content will be updated on Wednesday, as explained by SCEE's Mike Kebby.

While this may seem like terrific news for PlayStation fans, we're pretty certain this is how the time wars begin. With Sony pushing earlier, Microsoft will have no choice but to retaliate by sending Major Nelson back in time to assassinate the unborn Kevin Butler! Don't worry, though. We're pretty certain he knows how to travel through time as well.

Bet that feels nice on the swollen testicles. But is Sony still going to release in the evening and Microsoft in the early morning? Rock Band tracks still release on Xbox first, jdpatri

I just tried the WipeoutHD demo and it didn't feel like anything special. Wasn't even aware there was any hype for it until this thread.

I'm actually tempted now that it's $5 just for the sake of nostalgia.

I havent played it in a while, but I would say go for it! Its only $5 and its a fun game. If you have friends to do the co-op with, then it becomes even more fun.

Im real tempted to get Wipeout now that its only $10...

Anyone else download it on multiple ps3s and get that error????

What BS I checked around and you can only play it on one ps3 per 24hrs and online only. I wish I could get my money back or knew about this before I bought the game. Capcom sucks donkey balls with this move.

Monopoly for $5. I think it's local multiplayer only, but it's kind of tempting. Anybody planning to get it?

The reviews I've read say it's just like the original game, and not in a good way (repetitive, no elaborate special moves). They're reviewing it in the context of a modern game rather than a remake made to put a new coat of paint on the original. It makes me wonder if the NBA Jam remake will be similarly criticized if the gameplay of that title isn't "evolved" from how it was back then.

But, is there anything wrong with the game? As long as I expect it to be just like the original, warts and all, is it fine in that context?

So much for pushing that gameshare thing. Sounds like those days are coming to an end.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

I'm not sure I understand 100% but it's going to be annoying if I have to always be online just to play a PSN game from now on. I never "took advantage" of game sharing, and it will suck if I have to now pay the price for Sony being too inept to implement decent DRM. At least 360 games can be played offline on the console of purchase and a process exists to transfer them to another console.

Anyway, if I'm misunderstanding the situation please correct me.

It's awful late to introduce this sort of restrictive DRM now, but I suppose that's what they're aiming to stop.

There have already been a few PSN games that also had some sort of anti-gamesharing method built-into them such as Burnout Paradise and Warhawk. Plus a lot of demos had the 24-hour lockout as well. Hopefully this doesn't become a trend...

In case folks didn't know, $20 PSN cards are $17 at Target.

I think it's good through the 24th.

I bought 5 yesterday for $85...should last me a while.

And another reminder : WipEout HD is $9.99 for only a few hours more. If you were sitting on a fence about this purchase, jump now.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

I've been procrastinating on buying WipEout HD since the sale started but finally decided to do so last night. I'm glad that I did. I was lukewarm on the demo when I first played it months ago, but after a few races in the campaign I'm really enjoying this game.

Good price, mediocre game. For R&C completionists, it might be worth it, but I'm certainly one of the biggest R&C fan in this forum and I'm only mezzo-mezzo on this game. It's short, Clank-free and has zero replayablility.
Also they severely limit and gimp your weapon collection, which takes the fun down several notches. If you need to play every R&C game, go ahead, but otherwise it pales in comparison to any of the other Insomniac R&C games.

There's also another game on sale this week -- a side-scrolling beat-em-up called Revenge Of The Wounded Dragons for $4.99 (50% off). I'd never even heard of this one, but the video review below does look kinda fun.

I picked up Revenge Of The Wounded Dragons last night. I've only played through the first 4 levels, but I think it's worth five bucks.

So not worth it even at $7.49, Decker? Cos I've been holding out for such a price drop.

Like I said, if you're a R&C nut, then sure. But I'm as big a fan as there is (Hell, I even have the DC Unlimited collectible action figures prominently displayed in my office) and I didn't like it much at all. Was it worth that price for me? I suppose so, but I want the buyer to beware here. Think of it as a Ratchet & Clank Tools Of Destruction DLC add-on level that isn't affected by your previous game saves. I'd say there's about 3-4 hours of content there with no replayablility. If that's worth $7.50 to you, go ahead.
