Re: Official PSN Games Thread
I think one thing downloadable games have conditioned me to do is wait for the sale, if I don't absolutely need to play it right away (which is true more often than not considering my backlog).

Re: Official PSN Games Thread
This is a fact. Coupled with backlogs, there's very few games that need an immediate purchase, especially in the digital marketplace.

True, but, and I don't know why, downloadable games always take much longer to get discounted than disc-based games do, and when they do drop in price, it's really not by much.

I'll tell you why, it's becuase they have complete control of the marketplace with DLC. They can put it up there, and it's the only place you can buy it, and they have you at their mercy. They don't have retailers trying to clear up shelf space, because it's a direct market, and there is no shelf space.

Attention 2-D fighting game fans (who don't mind an inordinate amount of anime fan-service in their games), the all-girl fighting game, Arcana Heart 3, is now available on PSN for $30.
Sounds pricey for a downloadable game, but it's a complete package, with lots of fighters, and a surprising amount of depth, and it certainly beats importing the Japanese disc for $100.

The PSN price definitely trumps the Import price (which as you mentioned hovers around the $80-85 range). Also if you have friends who own the JPN Import, you can play your PSN copy against them. Even though Aksys was responsible for the release here in the States, it boggles my mind that the U.S is getting this game.
This game is definitely not Beginner Friendly, so be warned if you do not have much Mid-High Level Fighting Game experience.

Hey, did anyone else pick up Under Seige yet? There are no reviews and no demo (of course
) so it was hard to decide if it was any good, but checking out YouTube clips had me intrigued. Since it's on sale until 6/14 for PS Plus members (i.e. Everyone), I was brave or foolish enough to give it a go. It's a really professional action Rts game, not unlike Dawn of War II. It looks great and controls as good as any console based RTS game I've ever tried. You wouldn't even realize it's a downloadable PSN game except for the lack of dialog (cut scenes are told in Puzzle Quest-like semi-animated blurbs. I've only played a couple of missions but I like it so far. I'm not sure it's worth giving them your credit card number for, but it seems like a pretty good game that people should be aware of. I guess the PSN outage prevented them from giving sites review copies. It would be a shame for a game like this to get lost in the shuffle. It sure seems like it's worth $10 to me.

Yeah, I think the outage has hurt a lot of PSN developers. Haven't seen much activity on the thread but has everyone picked up their free PSN games yet?

Re: Official PSN Games Thread
I got my free stuff. I'm definitely not giving Sony my credit card info again, and I'm feeling kind of apathetic about making a trip to the store just to buy a PSN points card, so I guess I won't be buying anything off of the store any time soon.

Has anyone run across a review for Akimi Village yet? Seems like my type of game but I don't want to drop the $10 without trying a demo (which isn't available) or at least reading a review.

Is it just me or are Dead Nation and Zombie Apocalypse almost the same game? I remembered playing a demo of a zombie game and I swore it was Dead Nation so I wanted to try it again to see if I wanted it from the welcome back program. I decided to go with two other games but couldn't find it only to then find out the demo I tried was Zombie Apocalypse. Weird.

Not in Bing. I guess I'm using the wrong search engine.

Since I already had Little Big Planet, InFamous and Dead Nation, I went with Super Stardust and Wipeout HD for my free games in the "Welcome Back" program. I really like Super Stardust, even though it gets extremely insane at times. However, I'm not really feeling Wipeout just yet.

Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 has been marked down to $9.99 until tomorrow. Is it worth it at that price since the general consensus was it wasn't worth it at $14.99?

This month's Qore episode features "Journey" on the cover -- the new game by the team that created flOw and Flower. I'm pretty sure that's the first time Qore has featured a PSN game as their main story. It looks totally great and it's a certain Day One purchase for me (assuming it's $10
). Here's the Qore preview:
