Thanks. This reminded me to download it on PS4.

I fucking LOVE cross-buy.

How many levels are there? I've done 5 or 6 but it's not really calling me to come back and finish.

I also really like that :
1) They're applying Cross-Buy to previously free PS Plus games like Hotline Miami

2) They aren't making newly-added PS4 Cross-Buy games as their monthly PS Plus free PS4 games (though they could)

I believe it was 9 levels, and the game seems to get better as you go.

For me it was kind of like Contrast in that it had a neat hook, didn't overstay its welcome, and isn't the sort of thing you'd need to revisit. In the world of video games, it's a "snack", which kind of makes for a perfect PS+ freebie.

1) Agreed!

2) Yeah, the only cheesy things they've done with PS+ on PS4 were Dead Nation, which should have simply been cross-buy, and PJ Shooter.

Not applicable to PS+, but I also think Guacamelee should have been Cross-Buy for PS4. I know it's an upgraded version, but it would have been a nice reward to give it to people who bought it on PS3 or Vita.

But I'm splitting hairs. Truth is, they're killing it.

Well, maybe I'm being selfish here, but since this new version is the only tangible benefit I've gotten so far on the XO Games With Gold program*, I'm kind of glad it wasn't given away free on the PS4. Feels, however artificially like I'm getting a little tiny bit of value with my Xbox Live subscription.

* edit : Actually, I forgot about the Max game they gave away. That was very good as well

It's only for God Of War 1 and 2. You don't get GOW III or the upgraded PSP games like in the Saga Collection. You can get the saga for around $15 on the PS3 anyway.

Distributed Denial-Of-Service

Its an attempt to make an online service unavailable by overwhelming it with traffic from multiple sources (multiple compromised systems as well).

Don’t Starve: Giant Edition Coming to PS Vita September 2nd

+ Posted by Jamie Cheng on Aug 25, 2014 // Co-Founder, Klei

Hey everyone! Jamie Cheng here, founder of Klei Entertainment. I’m happy to announce a few cool things: first is that Don’t Starve: Giant Edition is coming to PS Vita on September 2nd!

Here are some key details you’ll want to know:

The Giant Edition costs $14.99, and includes the Reign of Giants expansion. This expansion is usually $4.99, and we’ve bundled it in for everyone. It includes new characters, seasons, biomes, and other challenges that will happily kill you.
Unfortunately, in order for us to get the game on Vita, we had to rewrite a bunch of backend code to optimize it. Because of this, the save games are not compatible with PS4, so there is no cross play.
BUT! We love you all, so we’re making the game cross buy! If you own Don’t Starve on PS4, you get the Vita version for free, and vice versa. Thank you for supporting our game, and please spread the word so we can keep making more interesting games!

In case you missed it from our previous post, here are the key features of the Reign of Giants expansion that is included in this package:
Reign of Giants Key Features

New playable characters: Reign of Giants adds two characters for players to discover and survive with. Play as Wigfrid, a stage actress who went a bit too far with method acting on her latest role, an ancient Valkyrie, or Webber, a young boy who lives inside the spider who tried to eat him long ago.
Year-round starvation: Struggle through a full year of seasons as you experience the torrential rain falls of spring and the blistering heat of summer.
A bigger, badder world: New biomes have been filled to the brim with new creatures and gatherables that will either help you survive — or kill you.
An extra save slot: You asked, we delivered.
Giants: They’re in the name, for crying out loud!

And that’s all folks! See you on September 2nd. If you’ve got any questions or just want to say hi, you can find us on Twitter at @Klei. As usual, we’re always around and happy to chat. Don’t Starve is what it is thanks to the amazing community and discussions. Thanks for all the feedback and support!

_________

SO I suppose if you have the PS Plus PS4 version and buy the $4.99 DLC, I guess you'd get this free for the Vita.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Looks like there's a PAX sale with the store update. Happily, there are actually some PS4 games on sale.
No Blog post yet for me to cut & paste, but here are some highlights with PS Plus prices:

Transistor $13.49
Trials Fusion (PS4) $13.49
Bound By Flame (PS4) $24.49
Child of Light $10.34
Tiny Brains $4.99 (Cross Buy)
Guacamelee Bundle Fantastico (PS3/Vita) $8.99
Ratchet & Clank : Into The Nexus (PS3) $7.50
Beyond Two Souls $19.59
The Wolf Among Us - Season Pass (PS3) $9.79

Also Strike Suit Zero (PS4) is $9.79 but under no circumstance should you EVER buy that game. I regret picking it up for free.

PS Plus: Preview September’s Free Game Lineup

+ Posted by Kristine Steimer on Aug 27, 2014 // Sr. Community Specialist

There’s a little bit of déjà vu going on as our PlayStation Plus members will once again receive two games free the day they hit the PlayStation Store – Velocity 2X on PS4 and Joe Danger’s release on PS Vita. Of course, there are other great titles including Sportsfriends on PS4, PS All Stars Battle Royale and Hoard on PS3 and TxK on PS Vita.

<object width="853" height="480"><param name="movie" value="//www.youtube.com/v/XUD4IAg8D_o?version=3&hl=en_US&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="//www.youtube.com/v/XUD4IAg8D_o?version=3&hl=en_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="853" height="480" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

On PS4, Plus members will be able to download Velocity 2X and Sportsfriends. Velocity 2X is the sequel to Velocity Ultra and features arcade shooting and puzzle platforming with a cool teleportation mechanic. Sportsfriends is the perfect title to complement your parties, as it features 4 mini-games – BaraBariBall, Hokra, Super Pole Riders and Johann Sebastian Joust– to bring out the competitive side in everyone.

For PlayStation 3 owners, you can nab PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale, the game where you can get together with friends and pit PlayStation characters like Sly Cooper and Kratos against each other. And Hoard, an action-strategy title where you’ll play as a dragon attempting to get as much gold as possible.

PlayStation Vita owners can pick up Joe Danger for the first time on the platform and enjoy some good old fashioned stunt racing, as well as TxK, a remake of the classic arcade shooter Tempest.

All of these games will be free for Plus members starting September 2nd. If you want to see these titles in action, check out the video below.
September PlayStation Plus Preview

Sportsfriends (PS4, PS3)

All the games are playable with the DualShock®4 wireless controller, while Johann Sebastian Joust can be further enhanced by the PlayStation Move Motion Controller (sold separately).

Compete or co-operate with other dragons in epic multiplayer battles!

Joe Danger (PS Vita)

Free for PS Plus members

Eye-popping super-smooth 60FPS graphics use only the very brightest colours on Vita’s lovely screen, and we’ve revamped the JD control scheme so it plays just as nicely, too, including touch controls for the editor modes!

TxK (PS Vita)

Free for PS Plus members
Glowing vectors, explosive particle effects and a pulse-pounding soundtrack are core elements of many modern arcade shooters – a style that Llamasoft defined with its seminal 90s tube shooter. TxK is the spiritual successor to that genre-defining work and brings you 100 levels of engrossing score-chasing gameplay, married to an outstanding soundtrack that will have your head nodding as you blast your way onto the scoreboards.
